This past year I have done quite a bit of traveling.Every time I travel, I can’t help but notice that thesize of the American traveler has increased overthe past few years.But this really isn’t a surprise!Have you taken a moment to look at the foodoptions busy travelers have at most airports?
  3. 3. Most fall into the following categories… o Fried o Whipped o Creamed o Sugary and o LardyWith all of our schedules getting busier and busier,it’s no wonder the obesity epidemic in America isgetting worse!

I got to thinking…I’ve traveled through more airports this year thanany other time in my life, yet I am in the bestshape of my life at 33 years old.So even with all these food option pitfallssurrounding me as I travel, I have a secret for notletting travel become an excuse to let myhealth/nutrition suffer.
  5. 5. So I will let you in on a little secret of what I dowhen I know I have a trip coming up. I PLAN AHEADNot really the sexy, profound answer you wereexpecting, right?!It takes a little extra time not only do I maintain ahealthy diet, but I also save a TON of money!
  6. 6. So here is my simple plan to eat healthy while traveling1. Buy food in bulk for my trip. Usually it’s chicken breasts, green beans, sweet potatoes and avocados.2. I bake the chicken, green beans and sweet potatoes in large glass baking dishes. (Usually all can go into oven together and be ready in under an hour)
  7. 7. 3.With the help of my handy food scale, I portion outeverything by serving size into individual zip lock bags. Forme: 8oz chicken, 4.5oz green beans, 6oz sliced sweetpotatoes, 2oz of avocado.4. I put it all into the fridge for the night. Then the nextmorning I put everything into my collapsible travel coolerand I am out the door.I have found many airlines will let you bring the cooler onas an extra carry on, if you tell them you are on a specialnutrition plan and need access to your cooler!
  8. 8. And that is it. Is it a little different? YES!Might you get some odd looks eating food out of a zippy bag? PROBABLY!But will you be able to stay on your nutrition plan,keep seeing results, and QUIT using traveling as an excuse to ‘fall off the wagon? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT
