It Seems Nearly Impossible To Escape Our Past, Our Limitations And Even Our Successes

We would do well to heed the familiar prayer:

God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

 9. 9. Part Of The Challenge Is To Identify That Which Really Can Be Changed

What is there in my life that cannot be changed?

Family ties,

Nationality,

Gender,

Time in history,

Mistakes that have already been made,

The years I’ve already lived

Others?

 10. 10. What opportunities await me, if only I can stop fretting over the past and wringing my hands about the future.

 12. 12. Paul… Chief Of Sinners, Enemy Of God And The Church

“ I want to know Christ and the power of the resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow to attain to the resurrection from the dead. …I press on…forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

 13. 13.

His “forgetting” included A stunning career as A religious leader and A shameful past

What was important became walking with Jesus every day and going to places in life he’d never dreamed of

He crumpled up the picture of his life in exchange for the new man he would become in god’s grace

 14. 14.

Maybe it is time to crumple up the Old You in favor of opening yourself to what God has in mind for you?

Can you take that step of submission to the Divine Make-Over God likes to do?

 15. 15. The Big ‘Whys’ Of Life Can Demoralize And Paralyze Us

Job’s had to answer the question: Will I serve God even when life seems unfair, others don’t understand me, God seems distant and the future is a blur?

Surrender to God doesn’t mean smooth sailing…but it means that whatever the weather Jesus sails with us.

 16. 16.

Few Pollyanna endings . May still be plenty of pain and struggles…but we live each day with Kingdom Purpose.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will for fear no evil for thou art with me .

 18. 18. Commitment

Lord, help me escape the gravitational pull of my past, my limitations and even my successes. I want to run with you to places that are only possible with your forgiveness , Holy Spirit power and your presence. Come what may, I am yours.
