    • JESUS, I’M IN TROUBLED WATERS Luke 8:22-38
      • Stilling of a Storm
      • 8:22 One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, “Let’s go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, 8:23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. Now a violent windstorm came down on the lake, and the boat started filling up with water, and they were in danger. 8:24 They came and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are about to die!” So he got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they died down, and it was calm.

      • 8:25 Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were afraid and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!”

      • Healing of a Demoniac
      • 8:26 So they sailed over to the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 8:27 As Jesus stepped ashore, a certain man from the town met him who was possessed by demons. For a long time this man had worn no clothes and had not lived in a house, but among the tombs. 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before him, and shouted with a loud voice, “Leave me alone, Jesus, Son of the Most High God! I beg you, do not torment me!”

      • Healing of a Demoniac
      • 8:29 For Jesus had started commanding the evil spirit to come out of the man. (For it had seized him many times, so he would be bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard. But he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into deserted places.) 8:30 Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. 8:31 And they began to beg him not to order them to depart into the abyss.

      • Healing of a Demoniac
      • 8:32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and the demonic spirits begged Jesus to let them go into them. He gave them permission. 8:33 So the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of pigs rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned. 8:34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran off and spread the news in the town and countryside.

      • Healing of a Demoniac
      • 8:35 So the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus. They found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 8:36 Those who had seen it told them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been healed. 8:37 Then all the people of the Gerasenes and the surrounding region asked Jesus to leave them alone, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and left.

      • Healing of a Demoniac
      • 8:38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 8:39 “Return to your home, and declare what God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town what Jesus had done for him.

    • TAKE HOME
      • Tossed about on troubled seas? Feeling far from shore? Take heart!
      • My God, Why have you forsaken me? Ever feel that way but hate to admit it?
      • Life on the brink seems normal to many…one step from the slippery slope.
      • Who’s that coming our way through the fog or walking among the tombstones? Oh, no! Can it really be Him!

    • Jesus Lived His Earthly Life Among People Whose Sanity And Security Were Shaky At Best Peter, always so outgoing and rock solid became shifting sand when push came to shove. See John 13:37,38 Peter: Lord…I will lay down my life for you! Jesus: Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows you will deny me three times!
    • The Crisis At Sea Was Standard For His Best Friends… How About You?
      • Finances one wave from capsizing you?

      • Your ‘faith walk’ more like slip-sliding-away
    • Slip sliding away, slip sliding away You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away Whoah God only knows, God makes his plan The information's unavailable to the mortal man We're workin' our jobs, collect our pay Believe we're gliding down the highway, when in fact we're slip sliding away Slip sliding away, slip sliding away You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away SLIP SLIDING AWAY (Simon and Garfunkel)
    • The Story Line Of Humanity Is One Of Being ‘Under-equipped’ And ‘Over-burdened… What’s Are You Gonna Do?
      • Jesus was nearby when the squall hit the disciples. But their focus was on trouble rather than the master of wind and waves.
      • A man who lived among the dead and practiced extreme self destruction (perhaps an exaggeration of you) needed a visit from the ultimate grave robber and spirit tender.
      • So many of these stories are told to give us hope. Do I see hope for my spiritual mania?
    • Seemingly So On Top Of It All, Many Are Basket Cases Behind Their Veneer.

    • It May Seem Unnatural To Cry Out For Help… But Let’s Get A Little Practice
      • HELP!

    • HOW WILL JESUS COME TO STAND WITH ME? Could be that he’ll send someone to walk with you. Maybe something in his Word will come alive and stir your heart. In may be in some mysterious way beyond our imagination or expectation. What we do know is that God will not leave you alone to face the storm or your life of solitude.
