    • 1. (Make Disciples!) Matthew 28: 16-20
    • 2. Tupperware “evangelism”
    • 3.
    • 4.
    • 5. ● There is nothing in the world more important than entering into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. ● What can compare to helping another human being put their feet on the Jesus Trail? ● This has been the main business of the church for 2000 years, introducing the drowning to the real Life Guard. ● I don’t have to be obnoxious, intrusive or a nuisance to help others find new life in Christ. But it doesn’t work to be passive, too subtle or impersonal.

      • To the fishermen, Peter and Andrew: “Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of people”
      • To Philip: “Follow me.”
      • To Levi (Matthew): “Follow me.”
      • A disciple is one who follows (obeys and learns from his master).
Jesus puts a relational face on concepts such as Saved, Born Again and Redeemed.
    • 9. SO OFTEN A CHRISTIAN IS DESCRIBED AS ONE WHO HOLDS TO A CERTAIN BELIEF SYSTEM OR FOLLOWS A SET OF RELIGIOUS RULES
    • 10.
      • The Rich Young Ruler saw his faith as keeping to a list of commands. I have ‘done all these things’.
      • Jesus told him: Sell your possessions. Give the money to the poor. Then come, follow me. (Matthew 19:16-21)
    • 11. The religious leaders of Jesus’ day saw religion as mere ‘compliance’ to the scriptures. Jesus brought the message that true religion is following the One spoken of in the scriptures. “ And the father who sent me has testified concerning me…you have never heard his voice…you do not believe the One he sent…you diligently seek the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life…these scriptures testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” John 5:37-40
    • 12. Other religions direct us to a teaching, philosophy or even to our inner self. God sends us to a person…Jesus! … that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life John 3:16
    • 13. EVANGELISM IS ALL ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE PUT THEIR TRUST IN JESUS …A TRUST THAT LEADS TO DECLARING HIM AS LORD, FOLLOWING AND OBEYING HIM.
    • 14.
      • Confession is a matter of publicly declaring our trust in Jesus Christ
      • Repentance means remorse over our old way of living and turning to follow Jesus.
      • Baptism is our formal pledge to follow Jesus and pictures death to our old self, rising to walk in a new life. I Peter 3:21 and Romans 6:4
    • 15.
      • “ And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; those who do not have the Son of God do not have life.” --I John 5:11, 12
THE APOSTLE JOHN UNDERSTOOD THAT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS ALL ABOUT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS
    • 16. Remembering how the death of Christ brings new life to “whosoever will.”
    • 17. I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. I have chosen to follow Jesus as my Lord and trust Him as my Savior.
    • 18.
    • 19. “ It’s not easy to be me.” Life is hard. People need Jesus
    • 20. HOW WOULD A MODERN DAY BELIEVER (DISCIPLE OF JESUS) GO ABOUT HELPING OTHERS FIND LIFE IN CHRIST?
    • 21.
      • “ You yourselves are our letter …known and read by everybody.” --II Corinthians 3:2
      • “ Let your light shine before others that they might see your good works and praise your father in heaven.” --Matthew 5:16
      • “ Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” - -I Peter 2:12
Live a consistent life in obedience to Jesus.
    • 22. “ Christ came into the world to save sinners —of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners , Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.” --I Timothy 1:15-17 Testify to God’s grace in dealing with your own failings.
    • 23. Lord, I need courage, patience, persistence, timing Pray for pre-Christians …and yourself
    • 24. Offer to tell the Story (Gospel). Be creative! As wise as a serpent but harmless as a dove. Learn the Jesus Story well enough to re-tell it.
    • 25.
      • Get to know your neighbors, and co-workers.
      • Join a dance club, service club, PTA, bowling league.
      • Keep relationships genuine , but an eye to reconciliation with God.
      • Fishing for others may mean going fishing ‘with’ others.
Keep engaged …develop social contacts and long-term relationships
    • 26.
      • Highly confident, isolated, angry, resistant and other ‘distant’ people are often dealing with issues that would respond to a good dose of love and understanding.
      Look beyond masks.
    • 27. Socially, Sunday assembly, Church social functions and good times Invite folk to spend time with you and your believing friends.
    • 28. “ The Lord is not slowing in keeping his promise…but is patient…not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” --II Peter 3:9 SINCE GOD IS GIVING US MORE TIME TO GET THE WORD OUT…LET’S GET TO IT!
    • 29.
