Property Information <ul><li>The property is an existing fireworks retail store located on the south side of East Dania Beach Blvd. </li></ul><ul><li>The applicant applied for a building permit to erect a monument sign with a 36 square foot digital display. </li></ul><ul><li>Digital signage is not identified in the City’s sign regulations; the permit was rejected due to the ability of such signage to move, change, and pose distractions, which is prohibited by city code. </li></ul><ul><li>The proposed monument sign otherwise meets city height and size regulations. </li></ul>

Staff Recommendation <ul><li>Allowing a full color, changing digital display would confer a </li></ul><ul><li>special privilege that is denied to all other sites both within this </li></ul><ul><li>zoning district, and all the city’s zoning districts. This request is </li></ul><ul><li>not in harmony with the intent of the sign code nor the vision of </li></ul><ul><li>the CRA Redevelopment Plan. </li></ul><ul><li>Community Development staff and the CRA Director recommend </li></ul><ul><li>denial. </li></ul>
