  • 2. Reagan sure left a Legacy <ul><li>The economic boom of the 80’s led America to elect another Republican President </li></ul><ul><li>America elected George H. W. Bush in 1988 </li></ul><ul><li>He too was concern about domestic issues! </li></ul><ul><li>“ Read my lips…no new taxes” </li></ul>
  • 3. George Bush <ul><li>However, due the spending Reagan had done this would almost be impossible </li></ul><ul><li>Bush had inherited a growing national deficient and a slowing economy. </li></ul><ul><li>This slowing was in part due to the end of the Cold War </li></ul>
  • 4. George Bush <ul><li>With the Cold War ending in 1991, the need for a large military was over </li></ul><ul><li>Thousands of soldiers, workers were released </li></ul><ul><li>Companies were downsizing, laying workers off </li></ul><ul><li>Bush would have to break his campaign promises </li></ul>
  • 5. The Persian Gulf War <ul><li>Bush would also be caught up in a war in Iraq </li></ul><ul><li>Said we would not allow countries to bully others. </li></ul><ul><li>With Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait and the US interest in the oil </li></ul><ul><li>We launched operation Desert Storm and Shield </li></ul><ul><li>The war would last just 100 days </li></ul>

Clinton <ul><li>Clinton’s election in 1992 was filled with grand plans for America </li></ul><ul><li>Clinton promised to reform health care </li></ul><ul><li>Tried to develop a plan to cover all Americans </li></ul><ul><li>People feared it would cost too much, put too much pressure on small business and relied on government control </li></ul><ul><li>His plan died before ever coming to a vote </li></ul>

Clinton <ul><li>Worked to help American families </li></ul><ul><li>Provided increased funding for educational programs </li></ul><ul><li>Created a gun control law, requiring a waiting period </li></ul><ul><li>Anti-crime bill to provide more money for prisons and put more officers on the street </li></ul>I’d tried all this before man…good luck..
  • 9. NAFTA <ul><li>North American Free Trade Agreement </li></ul><ul><li>Increased international trade between Canada, US, and Mexico </li></ul>
