Revelation 21-222 Peter 3:10, 13But the day of the Lord will come like athief, and then the heavens will pass awaywith a roar, and the heavenly bodies willbe burned up and dissolved, and the earthand the works that are done on it will beexposed . . . But according to his promisewe are waiting for new heavens and a newearth in which righteousness dwells.

Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:4-5“He will wipe away every tear from theireyes, and death shall be no more, neithershall there be mourning, nor crying, norpain anymore, for the former things havepassed away.” And he who was seated onthe throne said, “Behold, I am making allthings new.” Also he said, “Write this down,for these words are trustworthy and true.”
  9. 9. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:6-7And he said to me, “It is done! I am theAlpha and the Omega, the beginning andthe end. To the thirsty I will give from thespring of the water of life withoutpayment. The one who conquers will havethis heritage, and I will be his God and hewill be my son.”

  11. 11. Revelation 21:1-8 The ULTIMATE REMAKE God takes the present world, which is marred and scarred by sin, destroys it, and then remakes the world as Heintended it to be: a world in which ALL that is ugly is gone!

  13. 13. “Apocalyptic literature is aspecial kind of writing thatarose among Jews andChristians to reveal certainmysteries about heavenand earth, humanity andGod, angels and demons,the life of the world today,and the world to come.”
  14. 14. Apocalyptic literature“reveals” these mysteries through the use of visions and highly symbolic language.
  15. 15. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:9Then came one of the seven angels whohad the seven bowls full of the seven lastplagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, Iwill show you the Bride, the wife of theLamb.”
  16. 16. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:10-11 And he carried me away in the Spirit to agreat, high mountain, and showed me theholy city Jerusalem coming down out ofheaven from God, having the glory ofGod, its radiance like a most rare jewel,like a jasper, clear as crystal.

Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:12-14It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, andat the gates twelve angels, and on the gatesthe names of the twelve tribes of the sons ofIsrael were inscribed— on the east threegates, on the north three gates, on the souththree gates, and on the west three gates. Andthe wall of the city had twelve foundations,and on them were the twelve names of thetwelve apostles of the Lamb.
  18. 18. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:15-16And the one who spoke with me had ameasuring rod of gold to measure the cityand its gates and walls. The city liesfoursquare, its length the same as itswidth. And he measured the city with hisrod, 12,000 stadia. Its length and widthand height are equal.
  19. 19. Revelation 21-221 Kings 6:20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubitslong, twenty cubits wide, and twentycubits high, and he overlaid it with puregold.
  20. 20. Revelation 21-22The fact that the new Jerusalem is in theshape of a cube is to let us know that nomatter where our place might be in this massive city . . .We will be right next to God!
  21. 21. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:17-21He also measured its wall, 144 cubits byhuman measurement, which is also anangels measurement. The wall was builtof jasper, while the city was pure gold,like clear glass. The foundations of the wallof the city were adorned with every kindof jewel . . . and the street of the city waspure gold, like transparent glass.
  22. 22. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:22-25And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple isthe Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. Andthe city has no need of sun or moon to shineon it, for the glory of God gives it light, and itslamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nationswalk, and the kings of the earth will bring theirglory into it, and its gates will never be shut byday—and there will be no night there.

  24. 24. Revelation 21-22Revelation 21:26-27They will bring into it the glory and thehonor of the nations. But nothing uncleanwill ever enter it, nor anyone who doeswhat is detestable or false, but only thosewho are written in the Lambs book of life.

Revelation 21-22Revelation 22:1-2Then the angel showed me the river of thewater of life, bright as crystal, flowing fromthe throne of God and of the Lamb throughthe middle of the street of the city; also, oneither side of the river, the tree of lifewith its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding itsfruit each month. The leaves of the treewere for the healing of the nations.
  26. 26. Revelation 21-22Revelation 22:3-5No longer will there be anything accursed,but the throne of God and of the Lambwill be in it, and his servants will worshiphim. They will see his face, and his namewill be on their foreheads. And night willbe no more. They will need no light oflamp or sun, for the Lord God will be theirlight, and they will reign forever and ever.
