  • 21. Today’sTakeaways1. Just as the Syrophonecian woman wasan “outsider” to the promises of God, soare we!We, too, are wild olive branches graftedinto the natural olive tree (which isIsrael).
  • 22. Today’sTakeawaysRomans 11:11So I ask, did they (Israel) stumble inorder that they might fall? By no means!Rather through their trespass salvationhas come to the Gentiles. . .
  • 23. Today’sTakeawaysRomans 11:17-18But if some of the branches were brokenoff, and you (Gentiles), although a wildolive shoot, were grafted in among theothers and now share in the nourishingroot of the olive tree, do not be arroganttoward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support theroot, but the root that supports you.
  • 24. Today’sTakeaways“Those of us who are of non-Jewish descent need to rememberthat we are wild olive branchesthat have been grafted into thetree of Israel. In terms of redemptivehistory, we are the dogs. But becausethe children refused the gift of theFather, the Father gave that gift to uswho had no claim on it originally.”
  • 25. Today’sTakeaways“Would any of us trade in thecrumb of our salvation foranything in this world?Thatcrumb is the pearl of great price.Jesus gave it to the Syrophonecianwoman. He gives it to us, as well!”(R. C. Sproul)
  • 26. Today’sTakeaways1. Just as the Syrophonecian woman was an“outsider” to God’s promises, so are we!We, too, are wild olive branches graftedinto the natural olive tree (which is Israel).Always keep in mind, God owes usNOTHING (except judgment); So, let ushumbly praise God for his generousinclusion of us Gentiles into his family!
  • 27. Today’sTakeawaysBeware of the sense of entitlement thatpervades our society! Instead, follow theexample of this Syrophonecian woman.Don’t demand action from God;rather humbly beg!
  • 28. Today’sTakeaways2. In healing the deaf man, Jesus givesus a model for ministry:- He looked (toward heaven)
  • 29. Today’sTakeaways1 Corinthians 3:5-7What then is Apollos? What is Paul?Servants through whom you believed, asthe Lord assigned to each. I planted,Apollos watered, but God gave thegrowth. So neither he who plants nor hewho waters is anything, but only Godwho gives the growth.
