See whether the person sitting next to you can guess it.

Comparative Paragraphs <ul><li>Last week we created a table comparing 10 different tribes in the Amazon. </li></ul><ul><li>You will now be using this information to write up 3 comparative paragraphs. </li></ul><ul><li>What do you think </li></ul><ul><li>a comparative </li></ul><ul><li>paragraph is? </li></ul>

Comparative Paragraphs <ul><li>For a comparative paragraph you need to compare two or more things and, depending on your question, identify which one is more important. </li></ul><ul><li>Think about the following question: </li></ul><ul><li>Which tribe made the best use of the land? </li></ul><ul><li>Discuss with your partner: How would you write a comparative paragraph for this question? Do you still use PEE? </li></ul>

Pay close attention to key words and think about how you might structure your approach. </li></ul><ul><li>Write a number of </li></ul><ul><li>points you could </li></ul><ul><li>make and perhaps </li></ul><ul><li>some examples </li></ul><ul><li>next to the </li></ul><ul><li>question. </li></ul>

Answering the question <ul><li>Which tribe has the most modern society? </li></ul><ul><li>Which tribe has the most unusual cultural activities? </li></ul><ul><li>Which tribe has been most effected by the outside world? </li></ul><ul><li>Use the following to help you: Remember that Evidence and Explanation can be more than one sentence! </li></ul><ul><li>Point: – ‘The ____ tribe has the most modern society’ </li></ul><ul><li>Evidence: </li></ul><ul><li>Explanation: ‘This is similar to modern practices because___’ </li></ul><ul><li>Evidence: ‘Another tribe, the _______, also does _______ </li></ul><ul><li>Explanation: ‘This is not as modern because...’ </li></ul>
  7. 7. Pictorial presentation <ul><li>Create a cartoon strip showing the differences between two tribes from your research. You may want to use a split grid method. You must have at least 4 differences shown. </li></ul>

Homework <ul><li>Do some research about food products which have some relationship to the Rainforest. </li></ul><ul><li>Either print off or cut out at least 5 pictures (make sure you record the names) of the products. Your teacher will give you a category from the following list to research: </li></ul><ul><li>Fruits Spices Nuts/seeds Animals </li></ul><ul><li>Due lesson after next! </li></ul>
