  • 2. APPOSITIVES
    • A word or phrase that identifies or explains the noun or pronoun it follows
    • Clarifies or adds details to your sentence
    • Ex. Rachel, the girl with the long brown hair , is my best friend.
    • Ex. Football, the greatest sport ever invented , is played during the fall months.
  • 3. PUNCTUATION OF APPOSITIVES
    • If the appositive occurs in the middle of the sentence, a comma is needed at the beginning and end of the appositive
      • Ex. Eric, a talented musician, plans to study in Europe.
    • If the appositive occurs at the end of the sentence, a comma is needed at the beginning of the appositive
      • Dr. Jackson has a degree in entomology, the scientific study of insects.

    • Write 10 sentences (do not have to be related to each other)
    • Each sentence must have at least one appositive
    • Underline your appositives
    • Use commas where needed
