  3. 3. PUNCTUATION OF APPOSITIVES <ul><li>If the appositive occurs in the middle of the sentence, a comma is needed at the beginning and end of the appositive </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Ex. Eric, a talented musician, plans to study in Europe. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>If the appositive occurs at the end of the sentence, a comma is needed at the beginning of the appositive </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Dr. Jackson has a degree in entomology, the scientific study of insects. </li></ul></ul>
