Bismarck Tribune
“ I work in the online world and I love the online shopping opportunities. But I wouldn't give up real world, local shopping opportunities for anything. Because, no matter how technologically advanced the digital world becomes, no matter how fast we can send data, no matter how much we can access, it's not a physical world. And physical interaction is at the core of all we do as humans”.
Real World Commerce
Pros:
1. direct interaction
2. product verification and problem resolution is quick
3. Employees live there and have strong business and social incentives to resolve problems and keep customers satisfied and happy. They can be easily found and held accountable for their actions.
Cons:
More time needed to go out to company store. Item may not be in stock.
Online Commerce
Pros: -Easily accessible via the net.
-Fast
-Inventory and price. (A lot of products you can find online that you can't find at a local, real world store. And online product prices, in general, tend to be lower than store).
-Easy to compare prices between stores and quality between products.
Cons: -Indirect interaction
-Online photos represent the product, no physical touch -Sound quality may be different when bought (itunes).
-Customer service handled via e-mail, IM or phones. (Often times face to face interaction is taken more seriously and dealt with right away in stores).
-It may take several days of shipping before item arrives, if item is not liked by purchaser than it takes longer to ship it back for refund.

Have we already seen the saturation of online commerce or is there room for growth?
What social effects do you see arising from the online world of buying and selling?
