Jessie’s Fibrenomicon, LLC Fine Hand Made Paper, Fiber Art, Textile Creation (suggestion: view in full screen mode to see full effect of paper textures) The papers shown in this slide show are hand made in a micro paper mill in Falls Church, VA. All paper originates from a) local plant fibers that are hand gathered with consideration to each plant’s specific needs as well as the needs of wildlife that might use the plant in some part of their life cycle; b) post consumer waste paper or fabric (cotton or linen fabric). Fibers are pulped either as a single fiber source, or customized as pulps that are derived from mixtures of any of the fiber sources available at a particular time. All papers sold to the public are archival, and most can be used with any media that an artist would require. Most papers need no surface preparation to be successfully used with artist’s inks, acrylic paints, watercolor (dry), oil paintsticks, fabric paints and many other media. The hand gathered fiber is manually processed throughout the papermaking cycle. All processes, including fiber collection are practiced with eco-friendly and bio sustainable manufacturing methods. We do not use bleach to lighten the color of any of our plant fiber or fabric fiber papers, as we find that the natural colors of the papers are subtle and beautiful on their own. We do, however, use pigment dyes that are especially formulated to dye paper pulps and are applied in a manner that the pulps absorb all of the dyes, so that there is no wastage of excess dye requiring disposal. We use dyes only on request or for the manufacture of experimental papers to be displayed in our portfolio.
