The audience for the media product is teens and young adults aged 15-25, both male and female. While some rock magazines may be more male-oriented due to harsh language, this magazine aims for a broader audience by avoiding such elements. The house style uses mainly grey, black, and red colors which may appeal more to males than females as the colors lack a "chirpy feel" that could attract some females.
To attract this audience, the creator looked at popular rock magazines Kerrang and Rock Sound for inspiration. 1. Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my magazine would be
teen to young adults, age 15-25 both
male and female.
For real rock products it may be more
male orientated because of the harsh
language, but because that is one of the
elements I decided not to follow, my
audience should be both male and
female.
My house style consists of
colours, back, grey and red, which
may not draw as many females in
as males. And because these
colours don’t give off a chirpy feel
some females may not be
interested.
2. Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
Before I constructed my 3 pieces I looked very
deeply into two rock magazines, Kerrang and
Rock Sound. The main images always catch the
readers eye, therefore I used the same effect
with my featured band, Notorious. I made the
image stand out.
I also added in lures around the main image
including Notorious to emphasis that the band
is the main aspect.
I included a banner at the top of the
magazine, to inform the reader on what else is
happening.
A puff was also added to let know that there is
something to be won.
My idea was to let the fan base know what has
been going on with the well know band
Notorious, and therefore the two step flow
theory would take place by it spreading by
word of mouth.
