    49. 49. SUCCESSTIPS AN OVERVIEW Get to class Poor attendance is the #1 reason students fail. Arrive on time so you won’t miss any important information or assignments. Set a realistic schedule Taking too many classes leads to poor grades. Plan to spend twice as much time studying as you do in class. ST.PETERSBURGCOLLEGE www.spcollege.edu Know your professor Get to know your professor. They have office hours and are available to help you. Get involved on campus Studies show the more a student is involved the better they do in their classes.

ST.PETERSBURGCOLLEGE www.spcollege.edu
    52. 52. SUCCESSTIPS CLASS SYLLABUS Other Important Policies Adding a class You cannot add a course after the first day the class meets. Dropping a class You can drop a class through Friday of the first week and still be eligible for a refund. Attendance and Withdrawal Policy Students classified as “NO Show” for both of the first two weeks will be withdrawn from the class/classes they are not attending and your financial aid will be adjusted. If you withdraw from a class after the withdrawal deadline you will receive a “WF” grade. These and other important dates are listed on the official Academic Calendar at www.spcollege.edu/calendar. ST.PETERSBURGCOLLEGE www.spcollege.edu
    53. 53. SUCCESSTIPS CLASS SYLLABUS Grading and Repeat Course Policies • To successfully complete a course, you have to have an A, B or C in the class. And while it is true that “C’s will get degrees” they may disqualify you from some academic programs. • And while you may be able to repeat a class that you get a D or an F in, Florida law does not allow students to repeat courses for which a grade of “C” or higher has been earned.
