    • “ It is well documented that adults learn best when they decide what it is they want to learn”

  • 3. What is Action Learning?
    • Action Learning suggests:
      • We have an issue or a problem
      • We have the knowledge ourselves or within the group to solve it
      • We need to apply our knowledge to the new situation we face
  • 4. How does it work?
    • Individual set members present a problem and:
      • Have their thinking provoked by questions from others
      • Are given the time to reflect
      • Go away and take appropriate actions
      • At the next session, tell the group what happened
  • 5. What skills to I need?
    • Rapport & relationship skills
    • Listening skills
    • Questioning skills
      • Pure inquiry
      • Challenging questions
      • Catalytic questions
      • Cathartic questions
  • 6. The GROW model
    • GOAL: what are you trying to achieve?
    • REALITY: where are you now?
    • OPTIONS: what could you do?
    • WHAT NEXT: what action will you take?
  • 7. How was it for you??
    • What worked:
    • Sharing
    • Different perspectives
    • Questions
    • Safety
    • GROW model
    • Self regulating
    • What didn’t work:
    • Lack of time
    • Preparation
    • Lack of facilitator
    • Motivation to give time to it even if you are not benefiting
