During the Muslim ruled empire it was the name given to non-muslims in the region. </li></ul><ul><li>After the 18 th Century it referred to the religion. </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>Hinduism is not only a religion but, a culture, and a way of life </li></ul><ul><li>The religion focuses on: </li></ul><ul><li>spiritual paths </li></ul><ul><li>liberation from repeated cycles of life & death </li></ul><ul><li>Planting Trees Sculpting </li></ul><ul><li>Singing Architecture </li></ul><ul><li>Dancing Building </li></ul><ul><li>Archery Medicine </li></ul><ul><li>Astrology </li></ul><ul><li>_________________________________________________ </li></ul><ul><li>Might all be considered part of the religious domain </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>Composed in 600 BCE, the Upanishads compiled the religious stories if the Hindu faith. </li></ul><ul><li>Originally written in Tamil (language spoken by 75million today) </li></ul><ul><li>The Upanishads spoke of a supreme being </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Brahman </li></ul></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>This movement began in south India around the 6 th Century CE. </li></ul><ul><li>Saints traveled from temple to temple singing hymns. </li></ul><ul><li>Poet Jñaneshura famous and influential saint from the 13 th Century who discussed the ideas from the Upanishad but translated into various languages in the region. </li></ul>
