  • Understanding the digital landscapeIt’s easy to spread yourself too thin. The generalist thinks they have to be everywhere. To be successful on a social network, you need to interact – just like in real life, if you only show up once at 20 networking events, you can’t develop trust, you need to go to a couple events and focus on that first.
  • Before you start or continue with your marketing, who are you trying to reach? Where do they hang out? What are their concerns?Hit list of adjectives of who they are, words that matter, and then build out the content and experience on your site to match thatWho is currently coming to your website, and who sell to may be different. You want them to be the same!Use marketing personas to create killer content
  • What is the goal of your outreach?Leads?Network growth? Increased interaction? Don’t forget that your social marketing should fit in with your other avenues, like your blog, email marketing, etc.
  • Don’t forget your personas – what networks are they on? Is your audience visual, data driven, a combo? Also, what other marketing are you doing? How can you support what exists already (social in a vacuum always fails)
  • - The average life of a tweet is 90 minutes.- Augment your content with content from your industry. Show you’re in the know!
  • Have a content and theme calendarCreate a monthly theme with sub themes.-Writeor create content. That will dictate the conversation and tactics for the coming week.Everyone should be involved in content creation. No excuses.
