Employers would rather spend more money on providingon-job training and further development to their current staff. At thesame time, they would reduce the working hours and increase thenumber of day-off of their employees. This would be also affectedby the Statutory Minimum Wage which came into force on 1 May2011. Here are the overviews of major industries:RetailThere are more International brands opening their flagship storesand setting up a local office in Hong Kong. Together with theincreased number of tourists from Mainland China brings alongthe increased consumers needs. For front line staff, employersare putting more emphasis on candidates customer serviceand language skills as compared to the past. Stability andgood personality are also considered when employing staff. Formanagement staff, previous experience especially in manageriallevel and related fields are required.BankingIn 2011, there was a high level of hiring in this sector afterrecovering from the economic downturn in order to fill the needs inthe market.
