Media Literacy Projects <ul><ul><li>Each US History II class will have it's own webpage </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Will have class assignments, links to online resources, discussion board, and project galleries </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>All students will participate in three projects integrating social studies with technology: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Field Trip Media Project </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Web Pals </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>World's Fair </li></ul></ul></ul>

Field Trip Media Project <ul><ul><li>As part of our unit on the Emergence of Modern America, we will be taking a field trip to Ellis Island </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students will film and photograph their experience and will create a multimedia presentation that will be featured on our class website </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>We will work with tech lab and TV studio to edit and produce short films and photo galleries </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Will correlate with our school's media literacy goal of incorporating technology into our classrooms </li></ul></ul>

Web Pals <ul><ul><li>Students will have weekly video conferences via web to discuss current events with students from partner schools in England, Germany, South Africa, and Japan </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students will be assigned one &quot;Web Pal&quot; per 8 week session with partner classroom </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students will keep a journal of their experience to be submitted at the end of the year </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Will broaden students' world perspective and allow them to communicate with their international peers via the internet </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Highlights will be posted on the class webpage </li></ul></ul>

World's Fair <ul><ul><li>Teams of four will select a country to represent and create a booth for our World's Fair Day event </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>All aspects of a country's culture, heritage, & politics are expected to be presented in the booth, along with a 10-12 page paper </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>8th Grade students only - other grade levels, faculty, and families participate as visitors </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Videos and photos of the event will be posted on our class webpage </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Will help students achieve teamwork goals and visual critical thinking skills </li></ul></ul>
