  • About Jeff Kottkamp
    • Like many people in Florida, Jeff Kottkamp was born some where else -- in the Midwest. As a young boy in Indiana he was inspired by stories of Abraham Lincoln, who grew up only a short distance from Jeff's hometown. Jeff and his family later moved to Cape Coral in Southwest Florida in 1977.
    • Jeff got his first view of Florida's State Capitol when he served as a Boy's State Delegate representing North Fort Myers High School. After graduating from high school Jeff earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Edison College, where he was active in Student Government.
    • Jeff then attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Political Science. Thereafter, Jeff attended the University of Florida College of Law where he received a Juris Doctor degree in 1987. A native of Tampa, Pam is a fourth generation Floridian, and hails from a family dedicated to service, including three generations of educators.

  • GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION
    • As Attorney General, Jeff Kottkamp will create a corruption unit to prosecute government officials who violate the trust of Floridians
    • Now more than ever we need transparency and accountability in our government.  Over the last year is has become readily apparent that too many politicians are conducting business in a way that puts their self-interest ahead of the interest of the people they were elected to serve. Numerous local officials have even been arrested for breaking the very laws they have sworn to uphold.
  • GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION (Continued)
    • Since 2007 more than 30 public officials have been removed from office by the Governor.  Only a few months ago the FBI arrested three Broward County Commissioners for accepting millions of dollars in trade for illegal favors.
    • Under our Constitution government only has that power which we, the people, give it.  When government officials use their position to advance their self-interest---whether to increase their power or the amount in their checkbook---they not only violate the public trust, they chip away at the very foundation of our country.
    • As Attorney General I will make it a priority to fight public corruption and the misuse of government power at every level of government.  I will work with the 20 State Attorneys as well as federal authorities to ensure that we aggressively take action when the public trust has been violated by government officials .
  • SHUTTING DOWN PILL MILLS
    • Jeff Kottkamp has led Florida's efforts to shut down pill mills
    • There is a new front in the war on drugs. This front is even more dangerous than the crack cocaine wave of the early ‘80s. The new front in the war on drugs is the illegal sale and use of prescription drugs.
    • Increasingly we are seeing a rise in the abuse of prescription medication---pills that are usually prescribed to relieve severe or chronic pain---becoming the drug of choice for thousands including teenagers.
  • SHUTTING DOWN PILL MILLS
    • The epicenter of this problem is South Florida, but the problem is beginning to spread all across Florida.
    • In 2007 there were 4 pain clinics in Broward County.  By the end of last year there were 115 pain clinics in Broward County and 176 total pain clinics in South Florida.
    • During the last six months of 2008 pain clinics in South Florida dispensed 9 million doses of Oxycodone
  • SHUTTING DOWN PILL MILLS (Continued)
    • According to a Broward County Grand Jury Report the top 25 dispensing doctors of Oxycodone in the nation were located in the State of Florida; 22 of the top 25 were located in South Florida, and 18 of the top 25 were located in Broward County.
    • As your next Attorney General I pledge to work closely with our great Sheriffs, Police Chiefs and law enforcement officials to ensure that illegal pain clinics are put out of business as quickly as possible.
  • Saving Florida's Space Program
    • Jeff Kottkamp is fighting the federal government's effort to end jobs at Kennedy Space Center
    • When President Obama released his FY 2011 recommended budget, the proposal called for an end of the Space Shuttle program and cancellation of the planned Constellation Program (thus halting plans to return to the moon and then going to Mars)
    • Not only would this course of action threaten our nation’s position as an economic superpower—it also could have serious ramifications for our national defense
  • Saving Florida's Space Program (Continued)
    • We are at a crossroads. The decisions we make over the next few months regarding our space program will have a lasting impact on our country. We need speak with a loud, clear, informed and unified voice from Florida.
    • Our message is simple -- we must lead in space exploration -- not follow. Urge Congress to fund space exploration -- not just to save jobs in Florida or around the country -- but to send a message to the world that the United States of America will continue to be an economic and military superpower with a space exploration program that is second to none.
