  • 2. The Open Golf Championship, also referred to as the British Open, is held on the third Friday of July each and every year. It really is officially called the Open Championship. Although most viewers think of it as the British Open mainly because it follows around the heals in the Masters, the us Open and right before the PGA Championship.   • 4. Young Tom Morris who won this championship a hard battle to beat his father who finished second in a very field of 10 professionals and eight amateurs. It had not been until 1871 that any prize money was given for this tournament. Younger Tom Morris won the championship in 1868, 1869, 1870 and 1872. For his three consecutive wins Young Tom Morris was permitted to keep your belt for the Open Golf Championship, and the man only agreed to be two decades of aging.
  • 5. After the belt was retired it turned out replaced with the famous Claret Jug that is given to each winner since 1873. Tom Morris was the first to win the Claret Jug before his untimely death with the day of 24. The original claret jug can still be viewed in the golf museum operated with the Royal & Ancient Golf Club. Each and every year the winner with the Open Golf Championship gets a replica of the original claret jug.
  • 6. The 2011 winner from the Open Golf Championship was Lodewicus Theodorus "Louis" Oosthuizen, coming from a farm near Mossel Bay, South Africa. Before his victory he spent 36 months training with the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation, whose mission is always to take young South African golfers of limited resources and assist them to become successful in Golf Trophies along with life.
  • 7. The inspiration was made in 2005 from the combination of Ernie Else and also the Fancourt Foundation. Ernie Els won the us open twice in 1994 and 1997 along with the Open golf championship once in 2002.
