MyGengo.com State Of Global Translation Industry (2009)Thanks Dave! I agree with the assessment in terms of Mainland Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar). Vietnam and Thailand have 25% Internet penetration, so room to grow, the other countries are far behind. Most search is done in the local language. Sites’ legitimacy is based on how fluent they are not only in terms of language but culture and design idiom. It’s complicated, therefore big opportunity.5 days ago

Sequoia Capital on startups and the economic downturnI think this is the most misleading slide in the set. There is no zero on the y-axis, and so the change from 64% to 69% from 1996 to 2004 (which is a 7.8% increase) is visually portrayed as being 400-500%. Disgusting. This is the kind of presentation which blames the current crisis on Freddie Mac / Fannie Mae and Clinton-era policies.2 years ago

My name is DougIn the slides you say "like yours" but that implies that the boss’ company is not "your" company, instead say "like ours" provides for the understanding that the company is "ours"

Innovation StrategiesNice, thank you. Check out Drucker’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He’s got a nice systematic process that includes a few more things.3 years ago

Brand-Yourself.comNice show, but I think there is a better business model for your company than hosting and seo. Why not just teach people how to gain personal seo ranking? Give it away and people will come back. Adsense, baby! ;D3 years ago

Where Can I Contribute (Drucker)Aloha David, this is good info. I suggest reflecting further on the objective needs of the organization in terms of the different stages it will go through as a startup. What expertise is needed and what objectives need to be accomplished at different times? What industry is being studied? Is this a vendor situation or a business-side strategy? Who is the customer? Is your model that of Tremor or something else? And what is the exit strategy (money side), e.g., how fast and how big can it grow, and how can it become liquid (M&A? IPO?)
I realize these are more business plan ideas than these Drucker questions above, but they will help focus on the more specific needs. E.g., first thing is needing customers, how do you get them? Ok, enough for now...3 years ago

Former NFL Quarterback Steve Young on NegotiationsAloha Jordan, these are so short as to be cryptic. From a 1.5 hour audio podcast, a bunch of great content is available. This slide simply does not provide the information needed. It might be a reminder for someone who has recently listened to the podcast, but not enough for anyone reading this to take away anything more than simple platitudes. The wikipedia quote is not useful, since Steve Young defines the soft skills himself, and has something interesting to say about that. I am challenged with this review, please advise.3 years ago
