
Often experiment with drugs

And hold liberal values on sexuality.


Hippies came about in the 1960’s

They protested the Vietnam War

Attempted to break from societal norms

Inspired by Buddha, Henry David

Thoreau, and Gandhi.

Hippies started in the United States.

 Mostly in San Francisco, California.
 Haight-Ashbury was known for many
hippies
 There were other movements in
Europe.
 Some created communes away from
society.
 Gathered at psychedelic music
