Scooters and Two-wheeled Parking - Presentation Transcript

    1. Co-exist
      • A quick look at how other cities - world-class cities - treat their two-wheel-riding residents and visitors
    2. Parking BLOWS
      • No matter where you live, parking presents some challenges
    3.
    4. Never enough room
      • And even when you are on two wheels, you don’t always have room
    5.
    6. Hard Choices
      • We’re here today to discuss a new paradigm. Let’s make the decision to treat two wheelers intelligently...as they do all over the world.
    7.
    8.
    9.
    10. It starts with rules
      • Dedicated parking
      • Efficient enforcement
      • An attitude of respect
      • A community that obeys the rules
    11.
    12. Know your audience
      • Give us safety, space and respect
      • We’ll make this a friendlier place to ride and add to Boston’s stature as a great place to visit on two wheels
    13.
    14.
    15.
    16.
    17. Loaners
      • The mayor wants bikes, give him bikes...but be smart about it
      • You will need more bikes than you can imagine
      • Follow other models - free 30 min.
      • Infrastructure and space
    18.
    19.
    20. Two Wheels
      • Bikes, scooters, motorcycles all living happily together
      • It can happen
    21.
    22.
    23.
    24.
    25.
    26. Space? Who has it?
      • NOBODY has enough space, but other cities around the country and the world are making it work
      • Use the space of one car for three scooters and that’s three fewer cars on the road. Do the math, then you have room for nine more scoots.
    27.
