    9. Joy Speaks to Community Day Audience
    10. Our Mission:
        • To develop sustainable human habitats and societies that involve and empower people from all over the globe in mutually supportive, win-win relationships.
    11. OneVillage Holistic Approach The Integrated Knowledge Wheel on the left is a tool to promote holistic ICT4D through oneVillage Initiative capacity building efforts.
    12. Our Approach: A Community Based Development Model
      • OneVillage Initiative holistically:
        • Maps out local assets to provide a “big picture” view;
        • Combines various needs, values & assets; a synergistic approach to solving problems;
        • Outlines key areas of community development;
        • People see the integrated systems in which they live in and depend upon;
        • Framework to consider various development options.
    13. Three D’s - Design, Development & Deployment
      • Through our “Dissemination of Innovation” partnerships we will:
      • Design more efficient & powerful ICT tools for community empowerment;
      • Develop & share our practical experiences & knowledge to help one another;
      • Deploy these tools into the field.
    14. Using ICT to Augment Collective IQ
      • We use Collective IQ – a term used by Doug Engelbart and others - to explain several things in relation to our work:
        • Knowledge is growing exponentially & information overload is the unsustainable result;
        • Technology is not the solution by itself;
        • It’s merely an enabler of community based strategies to increase human capacity & potential;
        • Thus designing ICT systems to improve Collective IQ is a must for building a sustainable global civilization;
        • This starts at the grassroots w/effective strategies for the dissemination of innovative information and technologies for sustainable development.
    15. Social Enterprise & Open Source Deployment
      • The following is part of the Dissemination of Innovation Focus:
        • Embracing a comprehensive, community-based and business oriented Social Enterprise approach;
        • Promoting rapid replication of ecologically and socially sustainable systems globally;
        • ICT is used as an enabler of human capacity development;
        • Winneba Ghana Open Digital Village (WODiV) is the test-bed.
      • All these ingredients are central to the successful deployment of open source in emerging markets.
    16. Collaborators
        • oneVillage Foundation;
        • Bamboo Community University and their E-Mate program in Indonesia;
        • Taiwan’s National Tsing Hua University;
        • Open Source community in Taiwan;
        • WODiV & Local stakeholders on the ground in Ghana.
      • We see ICOS as a way to enable the sharing of knowledge so that we can empower each other in new and improved ways through the effective use of ICT.
