    Notes on slide 1

The GigaVUE system is an entirely new concept in data access and tool connectivity. It gives multiple tools, customized access to data from anywhere in the enterprise network. As an analogy, power strip sockets supply electricity to any quantity and kind of appliance. GigaVUE is a “data socket” that supplies data to any quantity and kind of networking tool. The GigaVUE system is an OUT-OF-BAND multi-port connectivity fabric, that acquires data from any number of key locations on the network. Once installed, you never have to touch the tools or the network again. Paths through the fabric can be changed “on the fly” making tool moves, adds, and changes virtual and completely unobtrusive to the network. The GigaVUE system makes it possible to bring all your tools together to create a “TOOL FARM” which reduces tool management cost and enhances network security.

On the left side are Inputs to GigaVUE network ports, either span ports or taps on the network. Use existing external taps or use the built-in optical or copper GigaTAPs. On the right side are shown tools in a tool farm. An 8 port GigaVUE is making various connections. The ports may be configured as either “network” or “tool”. You choose the connectivity between network ports and tool ports by drawing lines. 1. Any network port may be connected to any tool port on the fly. 2. Multiple network ports can be aggregated to any tool port. 3. Any network port can be muti-plexed to multiple tool ports. 4. Bit Mask Filters are hardware based for near zero latency 5. Filters can be based on any field of the 80 byte header with offsets pre-defined for simplicity. Create filters on Mac, IPaddr, VLAN, App Port, TOS bits or any range of these. 6. Filters may be applied to a network ports to do bulk filtering 7. Filters on tool ports customize the data flow to each tool.
