Teaching Placement’s <ul><li>St. Martini Lutheran School </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Although building was over 100 years old </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Lutheran School with low budget </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Received numerous technology grants through government </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Brown Deer Middle School </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Public School </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Receives Federal Funding and Tax Dollars </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Money set aside for technology related resources </li></ul></ul>

Use of Resources <ul><li>SmartBoard </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The SmartBoard was used to facilitate lessons by providing more tools </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>I presented powerpoint presentations here </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Allowed class to interact with different online resources and web 2.0 tools </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Gave a visual tool to help learners not only see the curriculum but also enabled students to work hands-on with their learning </li></ul></ul>

Document Camera and Overhead Projector <ul><li>Each of these tools was used to show a document to the entire class </li></ul><ul><li>The students could follow along on their sheets while I worked and explained on my own sheet </li></ul><ul><li>Kept students engaged and on task </li></ul><ul><li>Made it easier to follow along and understand </li></ul>

Leap Frog <ul><li>Specific tool to help students increase their language and vocabulary skills </li></ul><ul><li>I used this in small groups where students were able to interact with the material </li></ul><ul><li>Allowed for one on one interaction and also was a creative and enjoying way for the students to learn </li></ul><ul><li>This tool also was self explaining so I did not have to always be there working with the students and could work with others </li></ul>

Highlighters <ul><li>Teaching Language Arts, these have become my best friend </li></ul><ul><li>Allowing students to use highlighters helps them recall facts and main ideas </li></ul><ul><li>When they need to remember where a key point was, its quick and easy to locate their thought with the highlighted material </li></ul>

Wiki <ul><li>A class wiki was created so students can collaborate on projects </li></ul><ul><li>Students were able to share their work with one another in a different environment </li></ul><ul><li>A new engaging tool gave them another reason to work hard and with one another to accomplish a specific task </li></ul><ul><li>A specific project this was used was for students to research historical places and people and share their findings with the entire class </li></ul>

Tape/CD Players & Playaways <ul><li>Each of these devices was to play back stories from a book </li></ul><ul><li>Allowed auditory learners to have support without taking me away from the class </li></ul><ul><li>A simple yet effective tool that even advanced readers liked to utilize </li></ul>

Individual Whiteboards <ul><li>Utilized to help students with spelling and math </li></ul><ul><li>Used in groups to help students practice spelling words and simple math problems </li></ul><ul><li>Quick for students to try and solve a problem without the fear of getting a problem wrong </li></ul><ul><li>Easy to erase and begin a new problem </li></ul><ul><li>Allowed for students to visually see their work without fully writing an answer in pencil or ink </li></ul>
  12. 12. 2Know Device <ul><li>Student Response Device </li></ul><ul><li>Allowed for me to ask students either true/false, multiple choice, or number problems. </li></ul><ul><li>Ask the entire class a question and they answer the question anonymously through the teachers network </li></ul><ul><li>Answers can they be graphed on the SmartBoard or Projector and studnets can see if they are correct and how they fare with their classmates </li></ul><ul><li>Maintaing privacy, students do not need to feel ashamed if they fail </li></ul><ul><li>They attempt without fear of failure </li></ul>
  13. 13. Overall Effectiveness <ul><li>Technology as a whole increased productivity in my class </li></ul><ul><li>It kept students engaged and interested in their learning </li></ul><ul><li>That interest in turn motivated them to try harder and succeed in their educational growth </li></ul>
  14. 14. Technology <ul><li>Technology is a tool that I would recommend to all teachers </li></ul><ul><li>It helps manage your class and allows you more opportunities to better connect with your students and be a more effective and successful teacher </li></ul>
