Bilingual Coordinator • Project Empecemos II (Let’s Begin) Grant • Serve as liaison between the Latino Community, the Schools, and the Library. • Bilingual Storytelling • Order Spanish materials for Judy Center and Library • Translate written documents into Spanish • Assist Spanish speaking public in finding material and translation • Latino Outreach Committee • Create events for the Latino Community and their families
  • 3. Bilingual Storytelling • Judy Center – Bester Elementary – Winter St. Elementary – Eastern Elementary • 4 branches in the Washington County Library System – Boonsboro – Smithsburg – Williamsport – Central
  • 4. Hispanic Heritage Day • Entertainment – Disc Jockey – Tambores Group (Venezuelan drummers) – Bolivian Dancers – Mexican Quintet
  • 5. Hispanic Heritage Day Cont’ • Activities – Salsa Dance Lessons – Face Painting – Craft – Bilingual Storytelling • Food – Donations from local Grocery Stores and Latino Restaurants
  • 6. ESL Presentations Presentations were held at Hagerstown Community College. Demonstration of online data base (Grolier and El Nuevo Encyclopedia) Library brochures and applications, children’s programs offered in the children’s department.

Computer Classes in Español Basic Computer and Internet Classes in Spanish Days: Mondays and Wednesdays begin Time:6:00PM-8:00PM C la s s e s 2009 b er 14, Septem Place: Washington County Free ession 6- week s Library (Computer Lab) *Children ages 8-12 are also welcome to sign-up. This class is made possible by Rubiano Betancur and The Washington County Free Library. These classes are free. Please call 301-739-3250 x190 to sign-up.
