    1. ACT Room Supervisor’s Training 2006-07
    2. Test Day Schedule
      • Report by 7:30 a.m. (at the latest)
      • Briefing Session (receive materials) 7:30-7:45 a.m.
      • Report to assigned rooms with test materials in hand.
      • Examinees arrive 8:00 a.m. (at the latest)
      • Examinees will first check in at front entrance and present ID’s 8:00 a.m.
      • Examinees report to rooms 8:05 a.m.
      • Identify and admit examinees 8:05-8:30 a.m.
      • Begin verbal instructions, complete front page of the answer documents, and hand out multiple-choice test booklets 8:30-8:45 a.m.
      • Administer Tests 1,2,3, and 4 and writing test if in a Plus Writing Room 8:45-12:15 or 1:00 p.m.
      • Dismiss examinees
      • Return materials to test center supervisor in counseling center (Jennifer Ailshire)
      • Fill out payment form information
    3. Responsibilities
      • Read the Manual and understand the policies and procedures it describes.
      • Attend both the training and briefing sessions.
      • Take responsibility for a test room and provide an environment conducive to testing.
      • Identify and admit examinees.
      • Mark attendance and identification on the roster(s).
      • Collect ID letters.
      • Direct examinees to seats.
      • Count test booklets upon receipt from the test supervisor.
      • Distribute test materials, keeping test booklets in numerical order.
      • Collect admission tickets.
      • Read verbal instructions to the examinees.
      • Properly time tests, using two timepieces (clock and watch or stop watch and clock, etc.); record the Start, Time Remaining, and Stop times in the Manual; complete the Extended Time Testing Examinee Progression Report.
      • Complete the Seating Diagram and Test Booklet Count Form.
      • Be attentive to examinees and materials at all times.
      • Walk around the test room to ensure examinees are working on the correct sections of the test booklet and answer document.
      • Walk around the test room to discourage and detect prohibited behavior.
      • Collect and account for all materials after testing.
      • Document irregularities and void examinees’ tests, as required.
    4. Attentiveness
      • Staff must remain attentive to their testing responsibilities throughout the entire administration. Reading (except the Manual), grading papers, using a computer, talking casually, or engaging in any activity in the test room not directly related to the administration is not allowed.
    5. Security of Materials
      • Test materials must NEVER be left unattended. Keep materials away from examinees prior to distributing materials, as directed in the Verbal Instructions.
      • NEVER leave a test room unattended!
      • Only examinees may break the seals of the test booklets.
      • No photocopying test materials!
    6. Room Preparation
      • Rooms should be arranged prior to testing by building maintenance staff.
      • Extra pencils will be supplied by test center. These can be located in your test materials basket.
      • Check your room walls for inappropriate posted materials.
    7. Admitting Examinees to Testing Room
      • Students will be checked in first at a central location and then directed to their assigned room.
      • Admit examinees to the test room one by one, checking identification at the door.
      • Mark assigned examinee’s ID/attendance on your roster. (review acceptable forms of identification in Manual)
      • Direct examinees as they enter the room to a specific seat. Separate friends and relatives. Do not allow examinees to choose their own seats!
      • If you have a roster addition, the examinee will be escorted to your room by the test center supervisor (Jennifer Ailshire).
      • Once admitted to the testing room, examinees must remain in the room; otherwise, ID must be checked again.
    8. Administering the Test
      • Begin reading the verbal instructions as soon as all examinees present at the test room shortly after 8:00 have been seated.
      • Do not wait for examinees who are not at the test center by 8:00 a.m.
      • Verbal instructions in each test room must begin no later than 9:00 a.m.
      • Make any general announcements prior to beginning the verbal instructions. (location of restrooms, no hats allowed, no smoking on school grounds, kleenex location, etc.)
      • Begin verbal instructions as outlined in your Manual.
      • Be sure to follow the correct instructions (Multiple Choice Only or Plus Writing)
      • Staff must read instructions verbatim.
      • Do not allow late students to be admitted after test booklets have been distributed.
    9. During Testing
      • Minimize distractions.
      • Follow outline of instructions.
      • Be attentive during testing.
      • Complete required forms as outlined in the instructions.
      • Time tests accurately with at least two forms of timing devices.
      • Check examinees’ calculators during math test. (review Manual for more details)
      • A 10 minute break MUST be given between Tests 2 and 3.
    10. What to do…
      • If an examinee needs to leave the room during testing (restroom, ill, etc.)
      • If you observe a prohibited behavior by an examinee (cheating, using unauthorized calculator, use of cell phone, etc.)
      • Group irregularity (power outage, major distraction, timing not accurate, etc.)
    11. After the Test
      • Verify the count of used and unused test booklets.
      • The number of used booklets must match the number of examinees in your room.
      • Return test materials, reports and forms to Test Center Supervisor in the counseling center (Jennifer Ailshire)
    12. Forms to Complete
      • ACT Test Booklet Count Form (during testing)
      • ACT Seating Diagram (during testing)
      • ACT Testing Time Verification Form (during testing)
      • ACT Irregularity Report (if necessary)
      • ACT Roster Additions Form (completed by Test Center Supervisor)
      • ACT List of Persons Denied Admission (completed by Test Center Supervisor)
      • Employment Eligibility Verification (form I-9) to be completed after testing
      • Payment Form to be completed after testing with Test Center Supervisor
    13. $$$Money$$$
      • Test center staff are employees of ACT; therefore, wages are subject to both income tax withholding and Social Security (FICA deductions). If an employee earns $100 or more per calendar year, Social Security tax is withheld. Employees will receive W-2 forms after the end of the calendar year.
      • Test center staff will typically receive a check from ACT in the mail within one month.
