  • 2. What Cause this War !?!? *Since the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in 1911.China had been ruled by many weak warlords , but soon would be taken under control by communist leaders. Many opposed the power that the had and tried to overthrow them , they were called the nationalist. When seeing what they were trying to do Moa Zedong revolted in various war known as the Chinese civil war. * At one point of time the nationalist and communist parties were joined together in an alliance. Soon after the new leader Chiang came to power , the alliance broke up over a dispute on who would take over which areas in China. Map of were the war took place
  • 3. *Another cause was the Autumn Harvest Uprising which began in 1927. It began because a new policy was being formed saying that the CCP would be in charge of fomenting insurrections in the rural and urban areas incase of a revolution. After that many attempts were made by the communists party to take over cities like Nanchang, Changsha, Shantou, and Guangzhou the Autumn Harvest Uprising begins. The Nationalist didn’t want this policy to take affect so the tried to stop the communist party and prevent them from taken those cities which they did. What Cause this War !?!? Cont.
  • 4. Moa Zedong 1896-1976 *Moa Zedong is the leader of the communist party throughout the war and also chairman. Also in 1949 he establish the People’s Republic of China.
  • 5. The Chinese Civil War 1946-1947 *In the year 1946 American troops went to china to try and help resolve the problems they were having. Eventually they got both sides to a truce reaching an agreement on who would control which areas , but it didn’t last long. *The Chinese civil officially began in July 1946 when Chiang attacked communist parties head on. From then on the leaders of both communist and nationalist decided to solve the problem militarily. *From July to December Nationalist leader Chiang’s won swift and easy victories . He also gained over a hundred square miles of areas that belonged to the communist . Although it look like Chiang was winning the war , however Moa knew that this was going to happen and had been preparing for years.

The Chinese Civil War 1946-1947 *Confident that he was going to win the war Chiang got the National Assembly. together to help him produce a new constitution for China’s government .January 1,1947 the constitution approved and a year later he became China’s first president. *The new constitution reestablished the Three People's Principles as the foundation of government . The entire system was based on "four powers of the people" vote, recall, initiative, referendum. *The nationalist victorious year didn’t last long , towards the of 1947 the tide had turned into the Communist favor . Although Nationalist Army had spread to all conquered areas it had lost many soldiers and was thinning out. The Communist Army had been growing though out 1946 and 1947.

The Chinese Civil War 1948-1949 * Later half of 1947 and early 1948 the Communist Army won many important battles which were in Hunan, Hupeh , and Manchuria. *As the war went the Communist armies grew heavier and heavier. They inflicted many losses upon the Nationalist armies though out the rest of the war . Over a million of their men had been killed and by mid 1949 the Nationalist Army had simply disintegrated.

The Chinese Civil War 1948-1949 * On October 1, 1949 Moa established the People’s Republic of China and then conquered all of China. * After the Nationalist were defeated they fled to Chunghig on October 13. Also in on December 8 they fled again across the sea to Taiwan. * From then on China would consist of two governments the mainlands Communist government and the Taiwanese Nationalist government.

  • 10. After Math 1950-present * After Moa took control of China he set out many reforms against all his political opponents around the country. Moa is said to have executed 800,000 people described as "class enemies”. Many think that he has killed more than that. He also build forced-labor camps, numerous prisons, and massive "re-education" and "self-criticism" programs in order to eliminate counter-revolutionary political ideas. *How ever Moa managed to unify China, an unrealistic goal had been achieved. He unified the country with centralized democracy; in this system of government, the people elected local representatives; these representatives would elect their own representatives for higher level assemblies.

    • 1950-present
    • In 1953 all citizens over the age of eighteen could vote for landlords except landlords and counterrevolutionaries.
    • In 1954, the first local representatives were elected and these representatives in turn elected provincial representatives , which in turn elected the National People's Congress, which approved a new constitution on September 28. Which stated out a series of rights that all citizens would enjoy.

  • 13. James McGovern was a pilot for CAT a Chinese Nationalist aircraft . Which became deeply involved in the Chinese civil war . He was forced to land his CAT aircraft in China and was captured , but released six months later . From then on he became very anti-communist. James McGovern
