2. Habits
1. Punctuality
Filipino - sadly, when you say "Filipino Time" it means that
people will not come on the time you've agreed upon (e.
g., 6:00 but will really start at 7:00)
Japan - Japanese are always on time. When you say that
you will start on 7:00, you will start 7:00.
3. Habits
1. Eating
Filipino - common Filipino meal consists of 1 viand and
plenty of rice! With an occasional dessert if you're lucky.
Common desserts are cakes, chocolates, ice cream, etc.
Utensils used are plates, spoons and forks.
Japan - also the same with Filipino meals, except that (I
think?) soups are always present with side dishes.
Common desserts nowadays are fruits. Utensils used are
bowls and chopsticks.
4. Habits
3. Greetings
Filipino - close female friends may hug and kiss (“beso-
beso”) when they greet while close male friend smay hug
each other and tap their backs or just by a handshake. We
do not bow to each other but we smile and greet them if
we see someone we know. Also, when we greet elders we
use the "Mano Po" system.
Japanese - usually bows to each other and call others by
their surname (with -san).
5. Habits
4. Work Ethic/Discipline
Filipino - more on the relaxed environment side; some
Filipinos in the workplace tend to lighten up the
atmosphere by always being cheerful to others.
Japanese- more on the serious side; Japanese are known
to be very hardworking, as they are very focused when it
comes to their workplace.
