Madagascar Visa Fact Sheet - Presentation Transcript

    1. Visa Fact Sheet - Madagascar Detailed information required for obtaining a travel visa – What type of visa is required? • British Nationals do require a visa for visiting Madagascar. • Non British Nationals may or may not require a visa and should consult the Embassy/Consulate of Madagascar in the country of their citizenship to establish this. • The type of visa needed is a: Tourist Single Entry Visa which lasts for 30 days. • Outlook specifies that all members of the group obtain individual visas. It is possible to obtain group visas. However, these should be avoided, as this effectively ties the whole group together. If in the unforeseen circumstances that a member of the group has to return to the UK early (e.g. for medical, family or personal reasons) then a group visa cannot be split. They would have to return to the capital city and source individual visas which would be difficult, time consuming and expensive. More information and contact details • Visa information can be found on the following websites: • Madagascar Embassy: http://embassy-madagascar-uk.com/VisasAng.htm • The Foreign and Commonwealth Office: www.fco.gov.uk Search under ‘Travel advice by country’ and ‘Madagascar’. One of the sections of the page will show ‘Entry requirements’ • Postal applications can be sent to: Embassy of Madagascar 8-10 Hallam Street London W1W 6JE UK • To speak to Embassy staff you can visit the embassy in London. Opening hours are listed on their website. • To speak to Embassy staff you can contact them on Tel: (020) 300 84550 or Fax: (020) 300 84551. Calls relating to visa applications may only be answered between certain hours. These are listed on their website. How much will it cost, and how can it be paid for? • A Tourist Single Entry Visa from the embassy currently costs £45. • For postal applications cheques can be made payable to the Madagascar Embassy - see website for details. • Credit Cards are not accepted by the Madagascar Embassy. 898 Life Changing Expeditions & Adventure Opportunities for Schools and Youth Groups www.outlookexpeditions.com 2008 Copyright © Outlook Expeditions / Camre Cymru
    2. When can you apply? • Tourist visas for Madagascar are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Therefore, they cannot be arranged until 6 months prior to your return flight from Madagascar to the UK. For example, if your return flight from Madagascar to the UK is on 25th July, you can apply for your visa from 25th January. • Ensure that you leave plenty of time to obtain your visa incase of any complications. Embassy processing times can be up to two weeks. • NOTE: Visas can be obtained upon arrival at the airport. However, Outlook advises that all students arrange their visas before departure. This is a more expensive option but, should there be any issues, then they can be resolved in the build up. This avoids the potentially difficult situation that, for whatever unforeseen reason, a student would be refused entry on arrival in country. What information is required? • A completed application form per person (in duplicate) • Valid passport with at least one free page for the visa to be stuck on (the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the intended departure date from Madagascar) • Two passport sized recent photographs • A copy of the team’s flight summary (This will have been sent to you by Outlook) • Payment for visa • For postal applications please send by Special Delivery and enclose a pre-paid addressed Special Delivery envelope to return your passport to you. How long does it take to process? • It usually takes 2-5 working days to process the visa. However, it can take longer. You will receive your passport back with the visa glued onto one of the empty pages. • Most applications are assessed initially, within 24 hours upon their receipt. Extra information which might be needed? • In country accommodation information – This is not normally requested but if so please contact Outlook. Misc • Paid visa fees are not refundable.
