If this is it then we have to reexamine ourselves and the way we are learning or find out the way we should be learning?

If i can't have all the knowledge around me then having a little is a sin to me. We should be careful and able to differentiate between information and knowledge. Nothing can surpass the capabilities and potential of a human because he the is origin of all the evolutions inside and outside him.

I agree guesteb3b95f and posted similar a few months ago. What is interesting though and that is what power large numbers have when it comes to demographics - something the politician can't control and are afraid of and never speak about. This is why one should look at countries like China, India, Brazil for example when investing money. Their societies are just entering their prime 'spending generation' while here we baby boomers are slowly closing our wallets. Anyhow most of what it said here while interesting to point can be readily countered with more logical as you did. Yes, do not be fooled by those marketing types!

1) The fact that the 25% of China’s population with the highest IQ’s is a larger number than the population of North America doesn’t mean that a single one of them is smarter than the dumbest person in North America.

2) Let’s accept that it’s true that “one in four workers (sic: presumably in the world) is working for an employer they have been employed by for less than a year” and “one in two has been working for their present company less than five years.” What does that mean? From what I recall, in the US 80% of all businesses fail in the first three years, and another 25% of the survivors fail in years four and five. I can only guess that the turnover rate in other countries is even higher, or it’s only offset by dramatically less entrepreneurship. Based on these facts, one might be surprised that longevity at a job is so high!

3) “According to Richard Riley, ‘The top ten jobs in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004.’ ” WTF????? Despite the fact that it’s not 2010 and he was basing his projections on the absurdly high economic growth rates of the time, was he saying that nurses and teachers (always in the top 10 in-demand jobs) either didn’t exist in 2004 or wouldn’t be in demand in 2010? What a crock! Despite his high position in the Clinton administration, and the fact that he’s a very nice guy (I’ve met him a couple of times), the man must be an idiot if he actually believes this.

4) Re; “We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist using technologies that haven’t been invented, in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet”: When has this ever not been the case? Ben Franklin (or anyone else in history) could have said this and it would have been just as true.

5) If the average My Space page is visited 30 times per day, I’d guess that 28+ of those visits on average are from the self-absorbed MySpace page owner seeing if anyone has scribbled anything on their wall or letting their friends know that they’ll be unavailable for the next 10 minutes because they’re going to the loo.

6) Re: “It is estimated that 40 exabytes of new information will be generated worldwide this year”: This makes me wonder if the author grasps the difference between data (I’m going to my Mom’s house now,” said the Twitter’er,) and information. And the idea that “That is more than in the previous 5000 years” really locks it for me.

7) Re: “The amount of new technical information is doubling every two years” (Sort of a Moore’s law for bits…) and “For students starting a four-year technical or college degree, this means that…half of what they learn in their first year of study will be outdated by their third year of study”: What a complete fallacy!!! Learning new things in no way whatsoever implies that the old things are no longer true. Consider a medical education where one learns that the heart pumps blood through the circulatory system and the lungs transport oxygen to the blood…which one of those two facts will be disproved in the next two years???

8) Re: “By 2010 it is predicted to double every 72 hours” : WTF is “it”/?????

Bottom line? A dramatic presentation, but a complete wate of time…much like the vast majority of marketing presentations…

Don’t let the psychology/marketing majors get the best of you!
