Paper normally comes from trees.

Lots of trees.

Millions of acres of forest are cleared every year.

By the end of this presentation, more than 500 acres of virgin forest will be cleared.

That's enough space for 200 soccer ﬁelds.

Deforestation puts species at risk for extinction.

It adds harmful CO2 to the atmosphere.

It comes primarily from sugarcane, one of Egypt's biggest crops.

Specifically, it comes from the waste fibers left over when sugar is refined for food.

It means 75% less energy and water is needed to manufacture it.
