As you can probably guess, I’m dropping another line for most mercenary reasons to see I can query you to see if SlideShare could "FEATURE" a new 23-page position paper/presentation, "Rx for U.S. Healthcare Reform," which I just posted the other day. This presentation, admittedly, is not really filled with flash-bang graphics or other effects (I doubt that I’d qualify for the recent "Best Presentation" contest!), but really is a newsletter-style position paper detailing a little-known Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) authorized under federal legislation over 25 years ago that led to the creation/fostering of outstanding NON-PROFIT "Social Managed Care Plans" for Senior Citizens to receive a greatly enhanced menu of inpatient, outpatient and at-home care services. This handful of "Social HMOs," which offer large networks of doctors, specialists and hospitals as part of their "in-network" plans, not only offer their overage/care plans at "Medicare-minimum" base rates ($96 per month), they also feature ZERO- to LOW-COST co-pay and deductibles charges. More than anything, this quartet of "Social HMOs" -- SCAN Health Plan of Southern California (and soon-to-be launching in Northern California), Elderplan of the 5 boroughs of New York City, Kaiser Family Health Foundation of the Northwest (Oregon and parts of Washington state) and Health Plan of Nevada (based out of Las Vegas and extending to other regions of the state) -- are EXEMPLARY MODELS and BLUEPRINTS for what NON-PROFIT health insurance can offer on a "FEATURE-RICH, MINIMAL COSTS BASIS" versus the major FOR-PROFIT "BIG HEALTH INSURANCE" carriers have abused of their "antitrust exemptions" to monopolize, manipulate, price-fix and artificially inflate premium rates. And, oh, there’s those estimated 75 million DENIALS out of the roughly 1 billion claims filed annually (source: SmartMoney.com) and the estimated 45,000 patient deaths annually attributed to either "lack of adequate coverage" or "none at all" (source: Harvard Medical study, Sept. 2009) -- essentially perpetuating a system of rampant, unchecked ETHICAL AND MORAL CRIMINALITY by Big Health Insurance...operating freely without the threat of "antitrust" violations (although Sen. Patrick Leahy [D-VT] is leading the introduction of new "antitrust" re-regulation bills in both the Senate and the House). Well, as you can probably tell that I’m very passionate about this subject because Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT), with the verbal-only support of President Obama, is proposing a Health Care Reform bill in which "state insurance exchanges" designed to offer "lower-cost premiums" will come from a pool of the same FOR-PROFIT BIG INSURANCE CARRIERS that have long been violating Constitutional Law with their "DENIALS-BASED" business practices. Our organization, Trans-American Alliance for a National Consensus (TANC) is instead proposing that any state or national "insurance exchange" should controlled and dominated by these more humane and equitable NON-PROFIT "SOCIAL HMO"-TYPE INSURERS under a new UNIVERSAL/PUBLIC-OPTION HEALTHCARE SYSTEM that TANC is proposing for the remaining under-65 population in America. TANC has also laid a specific set of recommendations, including a new "Federal Non-Profit Conversion Assistance Corporation" to make a public bond issue in raising funds to give current FOR-PROFIT carriers a chance to "de-list" from stock exchanges and un-tether themselves from large institutional and individual shareholders as part of the "marketplace forces" that help feed this "MAXIMIZING PROFITS AND MINIMIZING RISKS" business model -- accomplished through routine "bloc" DENIALS of claims and REVOCATIONS of policies for anyone who is found to eventually have some sort of medical procedure deemed to have "exploratory, non-approved procedure" or "preexisting condition" raising the costs of premiums or prohibiting it altogether. If Big Insurance doesn’t conceivably opt-in to take part in filing "Nonprofit Articles of Incorporation," TANC then recommends the federal government uses the full weight and authority of its Constitutional powers to open criminal investigations into their business practices and violations of their antitrust exemption. Plain and simple, the long-standing, haphazard "Have or Have-Not" healthcare system in this country (if you can even call it a system??!!) cannot continue to be left largely unregulated and to continue to allow Big Health Insurance call the shots on a new healthcare reform bill. Big Health Insurance long-ago violated its antitrust exemption and cannot be trusted to control an "insurance Exchange" without the federal government truly addressing the long trail of wanton criminality of FOR-PROFIT Big Health Insurance. So, that’s why I’m so passionate about either the promotion of existing NON-PROFIT health insurance/care organizations being the focus of Healthcare Reform. For those reasons, that’s why I also humbly request that you view, download and read our position paper at http://slidesha.re/kIh3N to see if you think that it merits to get "FEATURED" display on SlideShare’s home/menu pages or if you just like to "FAVORITE" it??!!
