• MSDS lists the Lethal Dose at LD50 if ingested orally.
• MSDS lists the chemical as hazardous if contact with the eye occurs. It suggests that
contact lenses be removed and the eyes are to be flushed with WARM water for 15
minutes and then seek medical attention.
• MSDS lists the chemical as slightly hazardous in cases of skin contact. It suggest that the
skin is washed with soap and water and then covered with an emollient.
• MSDS lists the chemical as slightly hazardous if inhaled. It suggests that the recipient
move to fresh air. If breathing stops give artificial respiration.
• MSDS lists the chemical as combustible at high temperatures. To extinguish a small fire
use DRY chemical powder. For a large fire use water spray or fire extinguisher.

6. Why does the funeral industry care about Dichlorophene?
Because Dichlorophene is a fungicide, germicide and
antimicrobial agent, we can use it in the prep room.
Since a major daily concern in working with the
deceased is bacteria, microbes and viruses, we need to
use whatever measures we can to disinfect surfaces to
protect ourselves. Surfaces can include everything from
oral body cavities to the prep table to cabinet door
handles. Cleaning is a daily chore in the prep room and
Dichlorophene helps us achieve that.

7. When Dichlorophene is combined with Toluene (solvent) it
has the ability to remove parasites within our pets. Such
parasites include ascarids, hookworms and tapeworms.
Yuck!
It is highly advised to let your veterinarian administer the
dosage. Too much can be lethal.

-Dichlorophene is considered an endocrine disrupting
chemical. This is especially alarming because
Dichlorophene can mirror estrogen components and
really throw a person off kilter.
