What we will expect from you <ul><li>Excellent punctuality and attendance </li></ul><ul><li>Bring pens, folder, notebook, previous class notes, bag, memory stick etc to every class </li></ul><ul><li>Regularly back up work </li></ul><ul><li>Enthusiasm towards learning </li></ul><ul><li>Meeting all set deadlines for classwork and assignments </li></ul><ul><li>Respect each other, staff and your environment </li></ul><ul><li>Inform admin office of any absences, daily, before first timetabled class </li></ul><ul><li>No hats or gloves to be worn during classes </li></ul>

Classroom Etiquette <ul><li>Leave your workstation clear of all rubbish and log off your computer at the end of each session </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure that you take all your personal belongings including memory sticks etc at the end of each session </li></ul><ul><li>Push your chair neatly under the bench </li></ul><ul><li>If there is a fault with your machine, please report it to your lecturer </li></ul><ul><li>All coats and bags should be stored under the benches </li></ul><ul><li>Food or drink should not be consumed near the computers </li></ul><ul><li>The computer equipment is there to help you to study, please treat it with respect </li></ul>

Classroom Etiquette <ul><li>The seating in computer rooms is height adjustable; please ensure that the seat is at the correct height to enable you to work comfortably </li></ul><ul><li>Remember to recycle any waste paper or plastic bottles in the appropriate bins provided </li></ul><ul><li>All mobile phones should be switched off or on silent, if you are expecting an urgent call, use Pushpa or Dawn’s number as your contact number: (0116) 229 5619 / 20 </li></ul>
  8. 8. Health and Safety <ul><li>There are two types of fire signal: </li></ul><ul><li>One continual ring – Fire alarm </li></ul><ul><li>Intermittent rings – Major Emergency </li></ul>
  9. 9. Fire Evacuation Procedure… <ul><li>Leave the room, as instructed by your tutor. Remain calm </li></ul><ul><li>Do not stop to collect personal belongings, your tutor will lock the classroom behind you </li></ul><ul><li>Make your way to the nearest fire evacuation point. These are located at all four corners of the building </li></ul><ul><li>Do not attempt to use the lifts </li></ul><ul><li>Try and remain with your group at all times </li></ul><ul><li>Assemble at St Margaret’s Church car park </li></ul>

Fire Evacuation Procedure… <ul><li>Your tutor will take a register, if you think one of your group is missing inform your tutor </li></ul><ul><li>If you are not in class at the time of an alarm sounding, please make your way to the fire assembly point and locate a member of the computing staff. </li></ul><ul><li>Remain at the assembly point until authorised to re-enter the building </li></ul><ul><li>Re-enter the building via the main entrance </li></ul>

What do I do if I cannot get down the stairs? <ul><li>Your personal tutor will create a Personal Evacuation Plan (PEEP) with you if you identify that you require additional assistance to evacuate the building </li></ul><ul><li>Fire Refuge Points are located close the to fire evacuation points and are connected via an intercom to the information centres on the ground floor </li></ul><ul><li>If the PEEP form identifies the need for you to go to a Fire Refuge Point, an intercom is in place for you to identify that you are there. You then need to await further instruction as to whether a full evacuation is necessary </li></ul>

Accident Reporting <ul><li>To ensure your safety at all times, any accidents and near misses must be reported immediately to your curriculum area reception point </li></ul><ul><li>The accident/near miss form will be completed by the lecturer responsible for you or a First Aider </li></ul><ul><li>The College has a number of First Aiders, contactable through Reception </li></ul><ul><li>Never leave the College after an accident without informing your tutor </li></ul>
  13. 13. No Smoking All of the College’s buildings and grounds are designated as no smoking areas. If you wish to smoke please move off the College grounds. Please do not stand in front of the car park entrance
