  • 3. Physical Therapist Aide TASKS * Cleaning and organizing the work areas. Being organized is very important because this way all tools necessary for work can be found easily * Transferring your patients to and from their treatment areas, which includes helping to lift them *Arrange treatment supplies to keep them in order and neat so there is easy access to the supplies needed *Change lines such as bed sheets or pillow cases * Secure patients onto the therapy equipment to make sure they get on safely

Knowledge <ul><li>* They must know about psychology and different human behaviors such as the different reactions of people * Public safety such as proper procedures they need to take while helping their patients * Knowledge on therapy and counseling for their procedures, principles, and methods used everyday * English language so they can have a clear communication with their patients </li></ul>

Skills <ul><li>* Active listening is needed when a patient or employee needs help * Social perceptiveness- Being aware of others reactions and knowing what to do when they react * Speaking well to all the patients so they understand you clearly *Good coordination is needed to assist the patients * Critical thinking is needed when fast decisions are made for the patients and what is best for them * monitoring others is a part of this job because it consists of constantly watching the patients </li></ul>

Pay, Work Environment, Advancements <ul><li>Pay: *The hourly pay is from $8.33- $16.39 *The yearly pay is from $17,330-$34,100 </li></ul><ul><li>Work activities: *The work environment consists of assisting and caring for other, which includes lifting people, helping them onto equipment, and helping them with their physical activity Advancements: *Some physical therapist aides advance to becoming a therapist assistant if they do their job well </li></ul>

Set and exhibit designer <ul><li>Tasks: * To examine object and decide where to place them in an exhibit * Prepare rough drafts and scales of drawings for a design * Estimate the cost of the items needed on the set or exhibit * Plan for locations * Confer with clients and staff to get the information for your design </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge: * Design - the principles of art and techniques used *Computers and electronics *Communication skills with other clients and staff *Administration and management skills- Knowing the basics of business </li></ul>

Skills and Employment <ul><li>Skills: * Active listening- In order to get the information on the exhibit from the client you have to listen to them clearly * Writing - another way to communicate affectively * Reading comprehension- being able to read what a client/staff says and taking that information to get the job done Employment: * as of 2008, the employment was 10,900 </li></ul>

Work styles <ul><li>* Independence - you have to decide for yourself on what you want to do with the exhibit * Cooperation - you have to be able to work with people and be pleasant with them * Dependability - people have to be able to depend on you and your designs * Analytical thinking - analyzing information and using logic to address work related issues Wages: *$21,83 hourly * $45,400 a year </li></ul>

Recreational therapist: <ul><li>Tasks: *To record the actions of the patients, and how their behavior changed throughout the therapy sessions * Conducting therapy sessions to patients in need *Encourage the patients with special needs * Instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, music, dance, and relaxation techniques </li></ul>

Knowledge <ul><li> *Psychology- human behaviors and performances, also the differences in all individuals and how differently they react * Therapy and consoling- you need to know how to consul people * English grammar * Proper education- knowledge of all the principles </li></ul>Skills: * Active listening- In order to help your patients you must be able to listen to what they need help with * Critical thinking- using your logic to identify specific problems *Speaking- talking to others effectively so they can understand what you are trying to get across to them *Coordination- adjusting the actions according to the other actions

  • 16. Which Career I liked best? <ul><li> The career that I liked best and showed most interest for is a set and exhibit designer. This career interests me more because I love to use my creativity and imagination through designing. I feel that this career will come naturally to me </li></ul>
