    1. Mental Health- Attitudes and Values Jayalakshmi Thirugnanam
    2. The World Health Organization defines mental health as "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.
    3. “ Attitude is the quality of our thought process with which we approach a situation.”
    4. There is a small thing which makes a big difference. The small thing is your attitude and the big difference is whether it is positive or negative.
    5. Our attitudes are generally shaped by our environment.
    6. Attitudes to view work : Philosophy will not work if I don’t work.
    7. Getting totally involved in the work process.
    8. Successful people don’t have jobs: jobs have them.
    9. You sign your name on every job.
    10. Work gives us more than our living: it gives us life.
    11. You have to consistently perform in a manner which is consistent to the way you see yourself.
    12. In the success family work is the father and integrity is the mother.
    13. 10 Commandments of Mental Health: • Think positively; it’s easier • Cherish the ones you love • Continue learning as long as you live • Learn from your mistakes • Exercise daily; it enhances your well-being • Do not complicate your life unnecessarily • Try to understand and encourage those around you • Do not give up; success in life is a marathon • Discover and nurture your talents • Set goals for yourself and pursue your dreams
    14. To Develop a better Attitude: Start the day on a positive note Believe in myself Read a few pages of an enriching book Develop an attitude of Gratitude Be alive and alert to every moment to every moment in my life
    15. Prioritizing Life Values Try to filter out any voices in your head that may be telling you what others (society, the media, peers, your boss or organization etc.) expect of you. Listen to your own inner voice. What is uniquely important to you?
    16. Community To be deeply involved with a group that has a larger purpose beyond one's self. To perform in effective and caring teamwork.
    17. Creativity To be innovative. To create new and better ways of doing things.
    18. Enjoyment To enjoy my work. To have fun doing it.
    19. Expertness To become a known and respected authority in what I do.
    20. Family To have time with my family
    21. Friendship To work with people I respect and to be respected by them
    22. Health To be physically and mentally fit.
    23. Independence To have freedom of thought and action. To be able to act in terms of my own time schedules and priorities.
    24. Integrity To live and work in compliance with my personal moral standards. To be honest and acknowledge/stand up for my personal beliefs.
    25. Leadership To motivate and energize other people. To feel responsible for identifying and accomplishing needed group tasks.
    26. Location To be able to live where I want to live.
    27. Loyalty To be committed to the goals of a group of people who share my beliefs, values and ethical principles.
    28. Personal Accomplishment To achieve significant goals. To be involved in undertakings I believe personally are significant - whether or not they bring me recognition from others.
    29. Personal Development To learn and to do challenging work that will help me grow, that will allow me to utilize my best talents and mature as a human being.
    30. Power To have the authority to approve or disapprove proposed courses of action. To make assignments and control allocation of people and resources.
    31. Prestige To be seen by others as successful. To become well known. To obtain recognition and status in my chosen field.
    32. Security To have a steady income that fully meets my family's basic needs.
    33. Service To contribute to the well-being and satisfaction of others. To help people who need help and improve society.
    34. Wealth To earn a great deal of money (i.e., well beyond my family's basic needs). To be financially independent.
    35. Wisdom To grow in understanding of myself, my personal calling and life's real purpose. To grow in knowledge and practice my religious beliefs. To discern and do the will of God and find lasting meaning in what I do.
