  • 2. Experience Partners Consulting has implemented solutions for many clients in the online and E-commerce space. Several of these solutions were also combined with security and identity management initiatives.
  • 3. Case Study – Safeway.com
    • The Business
    • Safeway.com for the nationwide chain, including multiple banners such as Vonns, Tom Thumb, and Randalls.
    • The e-commerce website allows customers to subscribe to content such as recipes and coupons, in addition to ordering product for home delivery
    • Challenge
    • As part of a migration to a new e-commerce platform , Safeway needed to provide the ability for customers to register and subscribe to content.
    • The separate websites for each banner store required customers to re-authenticate
    • Customer Service Representatives also needed the ability to manage the customer accounts
    • Solution
    • Partners Consulting implemented user provisioning and web single sign-on with Sun Identity Manager, Access Manager and Directory Server, providing and integrated solution with the e-commerce platform.
    • A web-services based approach to integration with IBM WebSphere Commerce Server provided a seamless user experience for self-service registration and login, as well as delegated administration for CSR staff.
    • Cross-Domain Single Sign-On provides the ability for users to seamlessly move between the web site for each banner.

  • 4. Case Study – Neiman Marcus Online
    • The Business
    • Online retail for the luxury department store chain, providing multiple high-end designer brands, each with their own catalog and design
    • Challenge
    • The process of deploying content to the customer-facing website requires the business partners to access the proofing website to upload and check the quality of content before it is published.
    • It was critical that vendors only see the specific portion of the site related to their brand.
    • Solution
    • Partners Consulting implemented web access management and single sign-on with Sun Access Manager and Directory Server.
    • URL-based policies were used to restrict access for each partner to the individual portion of the proofing site.
    • LDAP authentication was used to provide Single Sign-On between the internal and external facing proofing websites

  • 5. Case Study – Nokia Content Delivery
    • The Business
    • As increased network bandwidth and more powerful handsets enter the market, the content becomes the true value-added part of the wireless solution. Wireless service providers are looking for new ways to deliver content over the internet, such as ringtones and images using both the traditional web and the evolving wireless web to their customers.
    • Challenge
    • Nokia needed a solution to integrate content delivery with their existing customer portals. Partnering with Sun and other wireless network technology companies provided the components, but required an integrated solution to ensure a seamless user experience.
    • Solution
    • Partners Consulting provided a web-services based Single Sign-On integration between the Sun Java System Content Delivery Server, the existing customer Portals, Sun Access Manager, and the additional network elements.
    • Another key piece was automatic provisioning between the systems to enable the Single Sign-On, as users navigate between sites, they can be automatically provisioned to the necessary system. Partners Consulting worked with team members from multiple vendors to complete the integration with the other network elements, including the WAP gateway. ( ie. Delivering content to mobile devices, cell phones, palms, pda’s )

  • 6. Case Study – Men’s Wearhouse
    • The Business
    • Men’s Wearhouse is one of North America's largest specialty retailers of men's apparel with over 1,000 stores carrying a full selection of designer, brand name and private label suits, sport coats, furnishings and accessories. The consumer facing website is a critical part of their business.
    • Challenge
    • Men’s Wearhouse was experiencing performance and stability issues with their consumer facing site. Servers were becoming unavailable several times each day and performance issues were occasionally causing long delays in page loads. This was placing a huge administrative burden on the IT Staff and causing a negative consumer perception.
    • Software and hardware vendors were unable to resolve the issue and expert level help was needed.
    • Solution
    • Partners Consulting performed root cause analysis of the stability issues and analyzed the various components for performance bottlenecks.
    • Solutions to the stability problems were implemented with Men’s Wearhouse staff within days.
    • A thorough analysis was performed on the site code, software platform configurations, and infrastructure. A recommendations document was delivered detailing changes to be made to improve performance.

  • 7. Case Study – Starkey Laboratories
    • The Business
    • Starkey is a world leader in the design, development and distribution of comprehensive hearing solutions. With 22 facilities in more than 18 countries around the globe, Starkey is an industry leader in hearing instrument manufacturing. Their products are sold by independently owned and operated retail stores.
    • Challenge
    • Starkey needed a solution for integrating with a business partner that provided marketing materials for their retailers. Users needed to be seamlessly and securely transferred to the partner site and their activities tracked for billing purposes.
    • Solution
    • Partners Consulting provided a Federation based Single Sign-On integration between the existing retailer site and the outsourced provider of marketing materials.
    • Partners Consulting configured the Starkey site as an Identity Provider and provided assistance with the Service Provider’s development team to make required changes on their site.
    • Users were passed automatically between the two sites with unique identifying information and any promotional material credits securely transmitted to track and manage user activity.
    Business: Manufacturer Site for Retailers Technology: Sun Portal Server, Sun Access Manager – SSO, Sun Directory Server - LDAP
