  • Time Based Media Presentation

    1. 1. Time Based Media Presentation By Jasper Cheyney
    2. 2. What was the brief?  The Brief was to create a short film piece that is between 15-20 seconds long.  Must contain a minimum of 30 edits.  Must be as dynamic and as action packed as possible.  The story can be based on anything.  Must be copyright free.  You cannot use a continuous soundtrack.
    3. 3. Research & Inspiration City of God (Movie)  City of God is a Brazilian Crime Drama film that is set in 2002.  It contains short fast edits.  These edits often have black scenes in-between each edit for increased pace.  The edits match the theme of the film, fast paced gang fighting with quick action scenes.  They show two different scenes and the progression until they both meet. (See video)
    4. 4. Research & Inspiration Fast Edit Clip (YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKUU6iXzvQ4  Another Brazilian Short Film by the Youtubers SteelvideoblogGup who film Freerunning.  They added a black and white filter on their film for added effect.  Dual camera angles (Dynamic)  Dynamic adds a more entertaining immersive experience  Close up and far shots also add dynamic effects
    5. 5. Research & Inspiration Wicks Advert (YouTube) http://www.youtube.com/embed/rhNwBTpoF_s  Steady professional camera angles (to make it non amateur)  Extremely high quality audio files  Advert contains a variety of camera angles including panning.  Seamless Edits to maintain fluency in areas needed.
    6. 6. Chosen Idea & Why  My chosen theme for my short film is ‘How to make a cup of tea’  I chose this theme as it is non extreme which allows me to focus on dynamic camera angles...  Challenge myself and make something ‘boring’ entertaining.  Has a lot of stages in the making suitable for numerous edits.  I love tea.

    13. 13. What now?  Investigate further into a range of dynamic camera shots. (PoVs, Macro, Dual Angle, Ariel, High angle).  Give the main story more structure by adding additional scenes.  Locating high quality sound effects that are suitable for use.
