Software Systems Design Bridging Courses in Canada A bridging software systems design degree program is for computer programmers, analysts and software engineers who wish to enhance their programming skills and develop additional skills in business consulting, cryptography and information security, database solutions architecture and entrepreneurship in the new economy. The computer programming graduates are directly admitted to the third year of the course. The software design program runs for two years through four semesters. The graduates complete three bridging courses – two in mathematics and one in computer architecture while preparing them to work as software developers, database administrators, computer programmers, game programmers, system analysts, web application developers or business analysts. Program Content The bridging software course focuses on developing skills in logic and problem-solving strategies, database programming, software design patterns, software standards, testing and maintenance, project management and computer and human interaction. Students complete three bridging courses, including two in mathematics and one in computer architecture, in the sixth semester. In addition to this, they also develop skills in technical writing and documentation, programming for network systems, and architecting database solutions. During seventh semesters, students study about emerging technologies, software quality assurance and service oriented architecture. Eighth semester introduces them to the world of business consulting, entrepreneurship in the new economy, cryptography and information security. They also need to choose any one from among liberal studies elective courses, including calculus with applications, psychology: the science of behaviour, sociology of deviance, consumer psychology, and principles of human behaviour, ethics for a plural world, political and contemporary issues and popular culture. Where to Study Bridging Software Systems Design Program in Toronto? Although a number of colleges offer bridging courses in software systems design but not all are accredited. Centennial College’s software design course is a fully Canadian Information processing Society (CIPS) ISTAC accredited program. The program graduates are eligible to apply for certified membership to CIPS. The program offers a number of benefits to students. Since this is a bridging software systems design degree program, applications from computer programmers, analysts and software engineering graduates are accepted. In short, the applicants must have gone through post-secondary education in computers or any other related discipline from a recognized institution. Apart from this, they also need to submit a proof of English proficiency. Transcript review from an independent credential assessment agency is also required. The program also accepts applications from international students. However, they also need to get their transcripts assessed from a credential assessment agency as well as submit a proof of English proficiency. The completed applications can be submitted to the college in person, online or via mail. The offer of admission is sent by the college to eligible applicants. They need to confirm the offer before the due date by logging into their account.
