      • Marketing has traditionally relied on “push” methods.
      • Content was sent via direct mail, television advertisements, e-mail, and more.

      • The internet has changed marketing.
      • People can now “pull” the content they want, when they want it.

      • Twitter - “What are you doing?”
        • Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time.

    6. Share what you are doing
      • You can post up to 140 characters per “tweet”
      • It may simply be a status update, or a link to another resource.
    7. Share what you are doing
      • Let others know what your company is up to by creating your own company account and posting from there.
    8. Spread the word
      • Your postings can contain links.
      • Spread the word about something you find interesting, your recent blog post, or your website.
    9. Re-Tweet
      • Like something you’ve seen? “Re-Tweet” someone’s post by starting with “RT” and then give the author credit by adding there user name.
      • In this case @ColleenMick’s posting was shared.
    10. Joining a Conversation
      • A reply can be used to comment on a post that was made by someone else.
      • To reply to someone else’s post, just add the “@” symbol followed by their twitter name. In this case “@jasonpinto” was used.

      • You can also use the Search feature to find someone that fits their demographic.
      • In this example we searched for “Business Cards”
    13. Following People on Twitter
      • Twitter allows you to follow people that you choose.
      • Their updates will be displayed to you in real-time.

      • Find prospects
      • Talk to your customers
      • Establish yourself as a leader
      • Establish your brand as a useful resource
    15. Let Others Tell Your Story
      • Word-of-mouth marketing has expanded…
      • If you have a great company, product or service, people will spread that message for you.
      • Deliver relevant information, and people will return the favor.
