BMW planning to increase investments in India to Rs 1.8 bn German luxury car maker BMW proposed to increase its investments in India to Rs 1.8 billion by end of 2012. The company, which commenced its Indian operations by setting up a production plant near Chennai in March 2007, has invested close to Rs 1.1 billion, BMW India said in a statement here
India’s first green hospital comes up in Ahmedabad Intensive care unit (ICU) that is sunlit, has a garden within and allows patients to view stars at night. Care Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), a hospital venture brought forth by a group of doctors in Ahmedabad , has come up with India’s first ‘green hospital’. Right from the bricks, air conditioning, lighting & heating systems to harvesting rain water, the hospital has spent around Rs 50 crore extra on the Rs 150-crore project.
Dr Reddy’s buys GSK’s oral penicillin facility in US Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, one of the country’s biggest drug firms, has bought GlaxoSmithKline’s oral penicillin facility and products in the US for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is expected to close within the first half of calendar year 2011. As per the agreement, GSK will transfer ownership of its penicillin manufacturing site in Bristol, Tennessee, and rights for the Augmentin and Amoxil brands in the US to DRL. The rights for the non-US markets will, however, remain with GSK.

Nokia launches messaging service for small businesses Mobile handset maker Nokia on Tuesday launched a messaging service in partnership with US-based Intuit, under which small businesses can send SMS' to their customers about their products and services. Aimed at small businesses with upto 10 employees, the 'GoConnect' service will help companies send information on products and other details to their customers in a personalised manner.
