  • 2.  A monsoon is aseasonal change inthe direction ofthe prevailingwind. This windshift typicallybrings about amarked change inlocal weather.
  • 3.  Monsoon winds arecaused when the Sunheats theatmosphere. It is ashift in wind thatoccurs due to achange in localweather. Simplyspeaking, when, thereare differences intemperaturesbetween the oceansand the continents,monsoon winds occur.
  • 4.  In areas such asSouthern Asia, windsblow from land toocean most of theyear, making theclimate dry. However,during certain monthsof the year, the windsbegin to blow fromthe ocean to the landmaking the air moist.This moist ocean air iswhat causes themonsoon rains overmany countries.
