Practical Session (National Student Registry)Description:Based on the previous tutorials practical session: “The central management ofstudents’ profiles by the ministry of education is becoming an urgent need in the last years.Many students in Palestine move from one university to another, and they need to transfertheir academic records. Also, the ministry of higher education needs to certify the diplomasand mark sheets of students. Moreover, there is a need to centrally manage/monitor studentsfinancial aids. Therefore, the ministry of higher education has decided to build a nationalstudent registry, such that, each semester every university has to send the academic recordof every student to the ministry of education. The ministry will then update and integrate theacademic records according to the data combined from all universities into the nationalstudent registry.”The ministry wants form universities to provide students profiles throughweb services, such that exchanged data should be transferred using RESTstyle. Instructor may specify implementation tool based on traineebackground (C# or Java). PalGov © 2011 5

Practical Session (National Student Registry)• Each student should work alone.• Students must implement and expose learned skills, from REST session, and previous tutorials.• Discuses a general template to implement required service in front of students, and collect feedback.• Students are expected to re-use designed ontology in previous tutorials, discussion will be held to pick the most accurate model.• Each student must build and expose National Student Registry as REST style services.• After completing service implementation, each student must consume his/her college implemented service.• Final deliver of REST style National Student Registry services, and an application that consume that service.
