  • Coaching is: Skilled Timely An agreed and equal relationship Non directive Uses a structured coaching process based upon a recognized coaching model Is a supportive process, A relationship that fosters autonomy of the individual – rather than a relationship of dependency Developmental through agreeing ways forward Coaching is underpinned by several principles: That the client / student is resourceful Through the coach the client / student’s resourcefulness is catalyzed The coaching process addresses the whole person – looking at a person’s past, present and future It is through an agenda set by the client / student Based on equality – a partnership The coaching is about change and action – promoting development of intrinsic motivation.
