Gravitational pull of the moon (70%) and the sun (30%)
One high tide and one low tide every six hours.
High tide – one every 12 hours
Low tide – one every 12 hours
Spring Tide
Biggest difference between high tide and low tide
When moon, Earth, and sun are in straight line (full & new moons)
Neap Tide
Smallest difference between high tide and low tide
When moon, Earth, and sun are at right angles (1 st & 3 rd quarter)
