  2. 2. CRUST ………. <ul><li>The layer on rock that forms the outer layer of earth. </li></ul><ul><li>Facts: </li></ul><ul><li>*Is very thin </li></ul><ul><li>*Contains rocks and mountain </li></ul><ul><li>*Also has plate tectonics </li></ul>
  3. 3. LOWER MANTLE……. <ul><li>* The portion of the mantle below a depth of about 600 miles (1000 kilometers). Also known as inner mantle; mesosphere; pallasite shell. </li></ul>
  4. 4. P-WAVES <ul><li>*Seismic wave that compresses and expands. Primary wave that move back and forth moves fastest of all the waves and move through solids and liquids. </li></ul>
  5. 5. S-WAVES <ul><li>A seismic wave that causes particles of rock to move in a side to side direction. </li></ul><ul><li>Slower than P-waves moves through solids only </li></ul>
  6. 6. Inner core <ul><li>A dense sphere of solid iron and nickel. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Outer core <ul><li>A layer of molten iron and nickel </li></ul>
  8. 8. Pangaea <ul><li>The name of a super continent </li></ul>
  9. 9. lithosphere <ul><li>A thin layer in between crust and mantle </li></ul>
  10. 10. Upper mantle <ul><li>The upper part of the mantle </li></ul>
