  • 2. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the Texas STaR Chart and to share Caldwood Elementary’s STaR Chart results with the faculty.

WHAT IS THE TEXAS STAR CHART? An online survey designed to help teachers, campuses, and districts determine their progress towards meeting the goals of the Long-Range Plan for Technology A resource tool to assist Texas teachers in self- assessing efforts to effectively integrate technology across the curriculum To find more information on the Texas STaR Chart go to http://starchart.esc12.net/

THE TEXAS STAR CHART Texas Teachers must complete the survey online annually Teachers can use the profile to gauge their progress in integrating technology into teaching and learning Campus and district summary data can be reported to school boards, community groups, and technology planning committees Statewide summary data is reported to state and federal policy makers

HOW DOES THE STAR CHART HELP TEACHERS? It helps teachers answer critical questions such as…- What is my current educational technology profile?- What is my knowledge of online learning, technology resources, instructional support, and planning on my campus?- In what areas can I improve my level of technology integration?- What are the technology standards recommended for all current Texas teachers?
  • 7. THE LONG RANGE PLAN FOR TECHNOLOGY-The Four Key Areas of the Long Range Plan1. Teaching and Learning2. Educator Preparation and Development3. Leadership4. Administration and Instructional Support-The Texas STaR Chart has been developed around these four key areas
  • 8. THE GOAL! In each area there are areas of progress ranging from Early Tech, Developing Tech, Advanced Tech to Target Tech The goal for all Texas teachers is to reach the Target Tech level of the STaR Chart

CONCLUSION The goal is for every teacher and campus in the state of Texas to reach Target Tech In order to reach this goal teachers are going to have to use the STaR chart to assess their needs and set goals for the use of technology in the classroom to support student achievement As teachers, our goal should be to become technology literate and integrate technology into content area across the curriculum
